Report: Darko, Grizzles Agree On Deal
QUOTE

Free-agent center Darko Milicic agreed in principle to a three-year contract with the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday, the player's agent Marc Cornstein told ESPN.com Insider Chad Ford.Cornstein refused to disclose the amount of the deal, but the starting salary is believed to be for substantially more than the $5.3 million mid-level exception."We are extremely excited for this new opportunity," Cornstein said. "Darko's going to a team that really wants him. He's going to a young team with an exciting bright future much like his own. We're very excited Darko gets to learn from coach Marc Iavaroni. We believe he's one of the best big men coaches in the game. And we couldn't be happier that he has found a new home where he's appreciated.
-RealGMSo much for Anderson going to Memphis, eh? Well still, nice move by Memphis IMO.
Hmmm this is very intresting. Of course, everyone knew he was done in orlando after the Rashard Lewis signing.
At least they got Darko Millicic rather than Anderson Varejao. At least Millicic shows that he could potentially be a great role player. Darko will fit in great alongside Warrick and Gasol in the front court. Varejao is just a hustle player with no real offensive potential.
Well well well...wasn't the pick that the Pistons used on him originally for the Grizzlies? Hmm. It's as if the Grizz drafted him in that spot in 03 and let him play overseas for 4 years. And people thought trading the first rounder for Otis Thorpe wouldn't give them results. I'm interested in seeing how well this will work out. :happy0144:
Yeah! I'm happy. Milicic is a young big men who can grow with the young team as well as help them compete. His frontcourt defense will really compliment Gasol's offense nicely. Good move by Wallace. He's making good first impressions so far.
