What is interesting about the numbers is I wonder how much of it is just confirmation bias. Democrats ‘trust’ the media more because it tells them what they want to hear. Republicans dont trust the media because it conflicts with their wordviews. Kind of interesting how the numbers have changed since the 70’s.

Thank you !...thanks for reminded some people how hypocritical and how biased their own new sources are.

Anyone who doesn't realize that many news outlets/sources are subsidize/paid for by special interest groups is kidding themselves.

the biggest flaw to that philosophy has always been present in modern democracy: that being the argument that a 'free press' is essential and then allowing the same free press to be privatized. This started before the Nation was founded. When a newspaper or tv station is a private entity with owner(s), the issue is already there because any owner can influence the news. If you're actually concerned about quality and truth in reporting, this flaw in the system is the original sin

but that's always been the case, and for a damn long time in this nation, the 'media' was right-wing. Southern newspapers were cheerleading secession and forming the Confederacy, and going to war for slavery. Northern newspapers later were cheerleaders for Manifest Destiny and the displacement of Native Americans. The vast majority of newspapers cheered us into WW1, stupidly. And the same outlets cheered us into the Korean War and gave a platform for several years to Joe McCarthy and his witch-hunts. The same thing happened in Vietnam; and for the longest time during that era, the media bias was in favor of the establishment and against the protests and anti-war movement

and of course there's been a 2-3 decade campaign by the right side of the political spectrum to demonize media as "left wing". The agenda behind that is laughably obvious. Just as obvious is that there is no shortage of sources for right of center posters in this forum to link. They do that dozens of times a day. There isn't a shortage of 'right-wing' news in this nation, and there certainly isn't a shortage of center-oriented news

I still think the idea that there's a left wing media bias is mostly bullshit. Media isn't biased to the left, or right, as much as it's biased in favor of conflict and controversy and friction and scandal and sensationalism. And why is that? because that's viewed as profitable and that loops right back around to what I said in the first part of this....that's the original sin and the flaw in depending on a free press when in reality, it's not a free press, it's a for-profit press
    ***************************

and again, when R's whine about being victimized by left wing media, it's a small piece of the puzzle, even if it is true. That's because media is not the only industry that influences policy and taxation and resource usage and all the other things that weave together our society

logically, if there was an effective left wing bias to media, and it meant anything, we wouldn't have had 24 of the last 40 years under Republican presidents, or a federal judiciary that leans so heavily right, or the last two republican presidents getting into office while their opponent got more votes

    What Orion Bailey says:
"So is this where i state my opinion that i think the dnc media used this virus as a tool to go after Trump?

that i think the media, largely controlled by democratic and liberal political agendas from their corporate owners, use their media powers to instill their agenda on the public trying to pass it off as news, so they can guide the sheeple to vote how they want? And when the virus came to light, they jumped aT the opportunity to use it against Trump any chance they could, when the odds are, no matter who was in office, this likely would have played out the same?

Dnc media pounds Trump for his reactions to the virus, when its the media who controls the messages and the truth they decide to hand out.
Leftist media should be ashamed of themselves.
Do they ever wait for true facts before they jump on the “gotcha” narrative?"

    What I hear:
"Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah"

Sorry Orion, although I do disagree with you, this was meant to be humorous and nothing else. It's a take off of a cartoon by Gary Larson of the Far Side about what a master says and a dog hears which someone else posted in this forum and I found humorous. It's actually something that I posted maybe a year or so ago (the dog joke). Think of me as the dog if you will and that should get Sly on my side.

No need to ignore. I don't see you posting personal insults so I have the option of not responding if I wish. Now, if you offered up personal insults, or anyone else for that matter, then I'd treat it differently.
Why can't people disagree with someone without taking it personal? Insults, yeah, but with no insult?

I'm going to make a dramatic confession. I may have been the author of one or two posts that others found equally engrossing. A shocking discovery for most of my fans out there.
Okay, maybe my brain isn't as massive as I have led you all to believe but that dong, wow. My dong says something about my massive hands.

    Good morning!

Fact checking has become harder and harder. The very definition of fact its self is getting greyer and greyer as far as what is accepted.

I'm guilty. Read a headline and run with it. I think the would would slow down a bit( not a bad thing in my mind) if we all took pause and checked some things out prior to sharing, forwarding, posting, etc.

As much as I believe the media is the instigator, Its still up to each individual to ascertain the validity and honesty of anything they choose to support and push.

We really do need to slow down a bit in my opinion. This is one great way, but if we all don't do it together, then no one will because some will be left behind the curve as they are verifying everything while everyone else just stamps guilty or innocent and moves on.
