Am i missing something here? It's the middle of May. Nothing is going to happen before June. Not even practice. No chance a season re-starts before July. If they use current standing Blazers are 9th in the west. They would have to make up 3.5 games just to get in. Getting into the playoffs would take the remainder of the season anyway and that would take at least a months worth of games.

For the most part it doesn't even look like getting training camp going on time and in full swing for next season is a lock.

This season is over. At least for the Blazers for sure.

Shaq is only thinking about this from a player’s perspective. The NBA makes about $2.66 billion from its TV contract with ESPN and TNT. You can bet that the contract includes provisions to cover a certain number of regular season and playoff games. If those games aren’t played there’s going to be some serious money lost. I think that the league will find a way to minimize that hit.

    Boo Hoo.
The NBA might not make money for a year. All those poor owners and players might have a tough time making it.
    Boo Hoo Hoo
And think about the money COMCAST might lose? Darn It!
    Boo Hoo Hoo

I cannot believe we are actually talking about this?

    The nba is a joke.

Itd be more of a joke if they were trying to restart the season because of money.

Cause that is literally all it is about for them.

They couldnt care less about us or the players.

They are a business just like the radio station you listen too and the Blazer Fan Forum you help moderate.

Boo hoo? Just pointing out that there’s a pretty strong incentive for the league to figure out a way to finish the season. That doesn’t mean the incentive supersedes safety concerns, but it sure means they are going to look into a way to finish the season that’s as safe as possible. I don’t think a concern about an asterisk is going to enter into it.

75 of the Michigan protestors who refused the stay at home directive have contracted the virus after gathering together.....hate to see that happen to basketball teams as well

Nowhere near the same thing. The NBA will be testing everyone before they get into the bubble and will continue testing throughout.

White house said the same thing....about the same amount of infections have occurred there with regular testing....I think it's a really, really stupid and premature risk to open up competitive sports until there's a damned vaccine available...I do think the NBA was very correct in shutting down when it did....just hope they don't blow it by rushing back for $$$$$s

I was not in any way "Boo Hooing" you. You may be very correct.
I simply find it appalling that we are even discussing it. We should all be sending them a very strong message. That message should be that they can kiss this season goodbye. They will be fine.

My point was even a radio station is a business and has to be run to make a profit as any other small business. I went by two long term business’s today and was shocked that they were totally moved out.
If the nba resumes the season it will provide income to various other businesses as well. Of course it’s has to be done with some safety measures.

Still not the same at all. White House staff aren’t living in a bubble. They go home and have interactions with other people then come back to work. The NBA has been discussing having players and their immediate family members move into a closed environment at Disney World or Vegas. You get tested before entering the bubble and you don’t leave until your team gets bounced. Maybe it will turn out to be impractical for some reason or another, but the concept seems like it would keep the virus at bay.

I'm extremely skeptical about the timing.....for the players and staff I hope you're right...just don't see the point of risking it at all...I think it will send the wrong message to many people concerning how we approach this thing..instill a false sense of security on the hopes of dodging the virus this early on..I know the president wants to push ahead but I'm not of that camp at all. We should follow the success of New Zealand, Denmark and Taiwan....not take unnecessary risks

As I understand it, there’s no intent of starting anytime soon. Probably the end of June or into July at best, and that’s dependent on the virus diminishing in cases.

I am certainly not in the camp of opening the economy too fast, but there’s going to come a time pretty soon when there isn’t a realistic option of continuing with what we’re doing. People are going to run out of money.

yes there is....it's just not one anyone is prepared to accept this early on....and it will require some drastic changes in the way the GNP acts......and a major change in most of our value systems and health care...pure capitalism cannot survive this...like it or not, we're headed for social democracy of the Bernie Sanders type...the earth is telling us to stifle our chaotic rush for profits and material gluttony and stay put...slow down...we have built too much shit as it is. To the earth...we are the pandemic virus in many ways...people do not want to hear this but it needs to be said
