He doesn't try and gamble on every dam play. He is great at taking charges etc. He'll be fine.

Derek is worse of a pick and roll defender, infact especially with bibby he trailed him well before the came about. Derek takes charges? Steve nash leads the league in charges. ....And for gambling? Kobe gambles.... so what?Derek in the playoffs will be facing guys like deron williams and steve nash. If he couldn't guard the pick and roll in 2003 with Shaq there what happens in 2007 with no precense inside?

I loved Fisher as a Laker and its great to see him back. It should help the Lakers with him at point guard instead of that horrible Smush Parker.

I admit I got a bit teary eyed when seeing the replay of Fish at the game where his daughter had surgery.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>I loved Fisher as a Laker and its great to see him back. If his attitude was better I'd take him over fish.Another gem by sky, this guy tells it like it is<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>24- As a Warrior season ticket holder I can tell you that's not true. He goes under so often because he doesn't trust his speed and power going over the top, and believes he can shortcut his way underneath. In Utah he got show help, look what happened .504 eFG against when he defended point guards. Even when he went over and got the vaunted show help in Utah he's still shredded wheat. Reason why is dude is slug slow and a poor defender. It won't kill Fisher fans to admit the obvious. He has positives as a clutch playoff shooter with the precious and nice anticipation for flop charges and steals but his negatives are very costly. Poor man defender, no instincts for pick and roll D, comically bad in transition and finishing.Where you stand on Fisher is where you stand on the game. Shoes loves shooting and intangibles and ignores defense and therefore loves Fisher like a brother. I value defense, athelticism and decision making and ignore intangibles therefore Fisher's game is fingernails on a chalkboard to me.Fish is so divisive because he's the personfication of the fault line in fan profiles. Lot of fans value shooting/intangibles and undervalue D and skills sets. They're the majority and they LOVE Fish, what he does very well they care about deeply and what he does very poorly they sweep under the rug. Now flip the fan profile values, and it's vituperative HATE. What he does very well they don't care about and what he does very poorly they care about passionately. Which all feeds into World War Fish. Just a reflection of priorities.</div>

So Deker is having a conference tomorrow apparently. I wanted it to be a bad nightmare which would go away :no3:Oh well, atlease he can give us some leadership skills. Lakers dont have a leader which this team responds to (Kobe's style of leadership doesn't work with mentally weak players).

I agree. Smush had his moments like in game 4 of the first round in 06 but other then that I never really liked him. Smush would probabally fit in better with a team like New York lol

I think it was a good signing. At least we didn't sign Mihm for that much. (Mihm was 2 years for 5 mill)

My problen lied with the money and his defense but he brings leadership.Mihm was signing was solid. Laker Fo has been solid, not to flashy but not terrible this offseason
