OHA Announces Distribution of Additional COVID-19 Rapid Testing Instruments

    May 12, 2020

Today, the Oregon Health Authority announced that it has distributed 12 additional Abbott ID NOW rapid testing instruments to various healthcare providers around the state. OHA distributed the first three of a federal shipment of 15 in April but was unable to send the remaining 12 until now because of a lack of test supplies. Now the state has received enough test supplies to distribute all 15 machines and continue to supply them going forward.

The 12 additional sites receiving an Abbott ID NOW instrument and test kits include:

    • Asher Community Health Center (Wheeler County)
    • Bay Area Hospital (Coos County)
    • Blue Mountain Hospital (Grant County)
    • Grande Ronde Hospital (Union County)
    • Mercy Medical Center (Douglas County)
    • Mirasol Family Health Center (Umatilla County)
    • Northwest Human Services (Marion County)
    • Salud Medical Center (Marion County)
    • Sky Lakes Medical Center (Klamath County)
    • Wallowa Memorial Hospital (Wallowa County)
    • West Valley Hospital (Polk County)
    • Woodburn Ambulance (Marion County)
“As we begin to gradually reopen our communities, rapid testing will be a key tool to help ensure counties can stay open and quickly identify, treat, and isolate new cases of COVID-19,” said Governor Kate Brown. “Now that the federal government has finally supplied Oregon with the testing materials needed to run these Abbott ID NOW machines, we can deploy these instruments to hospitals across the state to bring additional testing capacity to counties.”

These machines will significantly improve the capacity for testing in these communities by allowing greater access to local testing and ensuring that the test specimens do not have to be shipped to distant labs for processing. The point-of-care COVID-19 testing machines are capable of returning positive or negative test results in roughly 15 minutes.

OHA distributed Abbott ID NOW instruments resources based on the following criteria:

    • Areas of the state with no access to COVID-19 testing.
    • Areas of the state with a limited number of first responders.
    • Areas of the state where courier services for the state public health lab and commercial labs are limited or unavailable.
    • Areas with a high population of older adults and other at-risk groups.
In the initial shipment, Oregon received only five boxes of test kits with 24 tests in each to a box. These were distributed to the first three sites in rural Oregon. Now, Oregon has received an additional 90 boxes and has learned that the CDC International Reagent Resource (IRR) will supply states with 50 test kits and six controls through an automatic shipment each week until further notice. OHA will distribute those supplies to the testing locations going forward.

The first three instruments went to Curry General Hospital in Curry County, Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Morrow County and Lake District Hospital in Lake County.

Sad that its closing, but its overrated.

Paid $70 dollars for my father and I to look at a few cars, read a few plaques of the history and that's about it. Very expensive for what little is there.

In Coronavirus Relief Bill, Hospitals Poised To Get Massive Infusion Of Cash

    https://khn.org/news/in-coronavirus-relief-bill-hospitals-poised-to-get-massive-infusion-of-cash/

Congress on Friday gave final approval to a massive funding bill that would steer an unprecedented amount of cash to the nation’s hospitals that are or soon will be struggling to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic.

While the bottom-line number for that aid is close to $200 billion, it remains to be seen how fast the federal Treasury will move the money and whether it will get to where it is most needed.

“It provides what we asked for,” said Chip Kahn, president and CEO of the Federation of American Hospitals, which represents for-profit facilities. “Are all the resources here the right ones? We’ll find out.”

The House vote Friday came after the Senate passed the bill Wednesday night. President Donald Trump has said he will sign it quickly.

About $100 billion of the funding is intended to, as the bill puts it, “reimburse … eligible health care providers for health care related expenses or lost revenues that are attributable to coronavirus.”

I was supposed to be touring the Louisville Slugger factory today before looping around to Nashville, Memphis and Clarksdale MS. Pissed me off that I had to cancel but now I’m thrilled. God, some people (especially those in government positions) are so incredibly stupid....

My wife has cut my hair and my son's his entire life...he came by and got a haircut on my deck a few days ago...got some home cookin' for home and left....he tested negative for his work so he was not a danger to us....and we've been hermits for a long time so I think it was safe....

I hope people can 'forgive' the obvious left wing slant of this website....I even find it over-the-top quite often. But they did publish this fairly good article about the planned right-wing protest in Michigan this Thursday, and about how big of assholes some of the people are being:

    https://www.dailykos.com/stories/20...ay-anti-lockdown-protest-as-commission-cowers

the threats these people are making, and the danger they represent couldn't be more obvious

when will all us speculators here at S2 have our day in the sun? We have as much expertise around here as many of the sources that enter the orange buffoon's mind. Which reminds me....I've been looking for an excuse to call somebody a buffoon in a face to face situation; I like that word, but social distancing is crimping my style

Have you ever been there before?...if not, find a way to go there. If you're a baseball fan, you'll love it.

Been to Nashville and Clarksdale (amongst other places in that region including Kentucky) but had never been to Louisville. Was looking forward to it, as yes, I am a baseball (Go Giants!) fan. Not sure at my age if I’ll make the attempt in the future but one never knows......

I appreciate that. Honestly this is probably acid reflux or something like that. They just want to look.
The bigger look is that i actually got into a position to take a test. Most people i know have not had one.

Well getting my mom to do it would be pretty tough. But if she were still around it would cost me way more than that. Bottles of wine and probably Bugatti's would be the dinner. Mom was never cheap.

Yesterday early in the morn I built a small fire in the woodstove to warm up the cabin...lit it, walked away, came back and opened the stove to adjust a piece of wood and a small bird was sitting on the side of the flames about to be bbq'd…..took the piece of wood and encourage the bird to fly out of the flames....it flew around my living room, shit on my wall, then my wife caught it in the kitchen with a box...took it out on the deck and let it fly free......this alone should spare us both from the corona virus although my main reason for saving it was so my living room wouldn't smell like burnt feathers....my luck I'll probably get bird flu now

Cool thing when I was at University of Portland playing baseball we could choose our Louisville bats and could keep about 5 bats each. I think I set a record though one game with breaking 4 bats in one game *actually it was a doubleheader so 2 games). Nobody wanted to loan me a bat, lol.The next year the bats were converted to aluminum and during summer ball, I actually broke an aluminum bat. It fell in for a base hit in shallow centerfield, but it felt like I crushed it.
