My brother in law is on bond awaiting his court date for a DUI (not his first) as we speak. He is still technically on bond but everything is just kind of frozen in time at the moment. He quit having to take daily breathalyzers, along all the other stipulations that go with the terms of bond (check ups, piss tests, etc.) They are definitely easing up on some things. I agree it may be a good time to try to cut a good deal amidst the chaos. Silver linings baby!

My oldest son down in San Luis Obispo many years ago got in an argument with his wife and ran over his mailbox backing out of his driveway intoxicated...didn't even drive down the street....he was half a car length into the street on his mailbox...cops stopped and he got a DUI.....cost him 5k, his license and a year of going to drunk driving meetings.....I'm pretty sure the fine, loss of license and classes are going to be a given in the sentence....it's jail time I think they'll avoid. Surrendering voluntarily your license and enrolling in classes would probably impress the judge

My wife works for one of Oregon's biggest counties. She's spent the last two months rescheduling court dates. On to rescheduling things for the second time around, out to arbitrary dates (that could even get rescheduled).

@The Professional Fan, now is a great time. As someone said, call into the court and tell them your situation. They are doing everything possible to keep people out of jails. Godspeed brotha.

The best way to get these charges dropped is to commit a much more heinous crime. Once they have you on video eating live babies they'll forget all about the DUI.

If you got it in Washington things might be harsher than in Oregon. If I remember right Washington state has some of the harshest laws against DUIs.

Get an older attorney. One in his 60’s. They usually golf and snort coke with the judges.

    OMG, that's heart wrenching.
I can see arresting someone but do they have to do it that way?

    This is true.
When I was living in Seattle I had a traffic ticket that I thought was unfair so I hired a lawyer. The lawyer told me that he knew the judge from going to the same church and that as unfair as my traffic ticket seemed there was nothing he could do about it. The lawyer then gave me the bill. Did I have a right to be doubly angry?

Call the Civil Liberties Union. You need advice from free attorneys and you feel comfortable talking this through with someone who could help.

Interesting… My brother in law died early but he was the coolest guy ever to hang a diploma. He actually dissed attorneys, especially the female divorce type.
My first cousin also had a practice and he worked as a municipal attorney.

Find out what the jurisdiction is.

Then, do research on what their current policies are of the court.

I would call the clerk's office from a burner phone and ask what the procedures are and what are they doing in these situations.
