So if he goes down and is removed from his position of senator, the Democratic Governor of NC can appoint a Democrat in his place?
Sounds to me more like a reasonable measure to prevent dirty work by a governor of the opposite party who could otherwise select someone with the IQ of an eggplant from his opposing party to fulfill the term. Then again, these days finding three North Carolinian Republican candidates with an IQ greater than an eggplant is no easy task.
