Lanny That was their temporary ordinance for a week and it was posted. They allowed the humans to sit this weekend.

Probably drove 800+ miles this past weekend.

Saturday, decided to head to central california. Went to Santa Barbara first, walked around a bit. Then drove to San Luis Obispo...had some awesome Santa Maria style BBQ (tri tip sandwhich and some pork ribs). hit up the Madonna Inn which is a TRIPPY fucking hotel. Gonna stay here.

The bar was open, didn't feel like drinking booze so got a root beer float. Good shit.

Drove by Pismo Beach, it was pretty fuckin ghetto. Crowded too. Didn't go down, found a parking spot but after seeing the crowd, avoided.

Sunday, did Orange County. Hit up Tacos in Costa Mesa, then Newport Penninsula/Balboa Island. Fucking CROWDED. No one wearing masks except to go into stores, which were totally open. We only hit up a small marina area that had some small shops, it wasn't crowded at all over there, but people were dining at the restaurants.

then hit up Laguna Beach....just walked around a bit since we lucked on the parking. Went on the beach, mostly people spaced out, standing and not sitting. Put my feet in the water, then up to Dana Point and then back to LA (with a stop in Hollywood for some Mashti Malone's Persian Ice Cream).

Monday, did San Diego. Drove up, went to Oceanside and went to a cool antique shop, got more deco for the pad (doing a hawaiian theme). Hit up Encinitas, then Del Mar for some Pizza, then La Jolla Cove, then cruised Pacific Beach and Mission Beach....it was like a party everywhere. Mainly just cruised through.

Was disappointed we didn't end up in Phoenix. Good weekend, exploring new and old areas.

I didn't cancel the car rental, so I wanted to use up the miles as much as we could!

I've lived in several of the places you visited...first met Bill Walton in San Diego in 71 at Pacific Beach...I played hoops there after classes at the 32 st Naval Training Center back in the day...Walton was the reason I first became a Blazer fan....

Fuck, I loved Del Mar. Such a cool area.

The root beer float is my favorite drink. I use IBC rootbeer and very cold and very hard vanilla ice cream from Haagen-Dazs. OMG, I must have one tomorrow.

    800 miles? Pff, I drove nearly 1,500.

That does sound like a better use of your long weekend than mine was. Once I got to Omaha, I helped my family friend with his 1880's Victorian home remodel. Pulling nails, staining inserts for his coffered ceiling, laid two coats of polyurethane down on some original flooring that had been sanded and stained.

Was it worth it? Idk, helping family and friends makes me feel like a good person. Plus, he fed me Omaha steaks for breakfast and dinner. Yeah, I guess it was worth it.
