<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Hornets sign PetersonLAS VEGAS - Free agent Morris Peterson of the Toronto Raptors, whom the Hornets' targeted as their top priority to sign in free agency, agreed to a four-year, $23 million contract with the Hornets on Friday.Peterson will become the team's starting shooting guard and Peja Stojakvoic will be moved to small forward, his natural position. In 2004, the Hornets signed Peterson to an offer sheet but the Raptors matched it."Morris feels blessed for this opportunity to play for Coach Byron Scott with a great style of play,'' Peterson's agent, Rob Pelinka said. "To play with one of the top point guards in the NBA in Chris Paul and to play for an organization in a city where so much has happened that's just a part of Morris because he has family there.''Negotiations between Pelinka and Hornets General Manager Jeff Bower moved at a brisk pace late Thursday night before the agreement was reached Friday afternooon. Peterson narrowed his choice between the Hornets and the Utah Jazz, whom he visited with earlier this week.Peterson, 6 feet 7, is a seven-year veteran who has played his entire career with the Raptors. He is a career 37.1 percent shooter on 3-point attempts, but last season he averaged 8.9 points after losing his starting job.]</div>http://blog.nola.com/tpsports/2007/07/horn...n_peterson.html
Good move by the Hornets getting him, and a good job by Peterson finding a good spot for him to be. Chris Paul will get him plenty of open looks from three point range, and other area's on the floor. For the Hornets it gives them another shooter on the floor, that is more consistent than Butler. So when Peja gets hurt again, they will also still have someone that can stretch the defense a bit to step in and play, so they won't be left like last year with no one that can hit open shots on the perimeter.

Phew...we got him. He'll most likely be our starter at the 2 and expect him to be at that spot primarily, even when Peja goes. I think Byron Scott is primed to slate Julian Wright at SF in that event, but having MoPete is good insurance in case we lose Peja's shooting.
Get ready for all them MP3's!(When Mo Pete would get 3's in, Chuck Swirsky would go MP3!)I hope he does great in N.O.
<span style="font-family:Tahoma">Great move by the Hornets, He'll go along great with CP3. They needed a shooter, too.</span>
Wow, how did I not see this thread?? Great signing for the Hornets, he now makes up for the questionable move of drafting Julian Wright. Now we have a great perimeter scorer who will fit behind Stojakovic at the 2, or can start for us if an injury occurs.

Okay, this explains for them not taking Nick Young at 16. He would have been the perfect fit for them at SG, but they went out and got Peterson, so at least they got an upgrade over Devin Brown.

That scenario failed and I guess Scott decided to go for upside and, most importantly to him- defense, and took Wright.
Mo pete is an upgrade considering they are very weak at sg, but he isnt going to change much. He might give them a good 10 ppg or so if they're lucky.

But anyways the move is a good move for the hornets because the get a decent perimeter defender that can also score, and they also get a good veteran leader. Good move in my opinion.
It's all going to depend on whether or not we sign Devin Brown, Brown is going to be the front-runner for the starting job.. Although I do want Mo at SG more than I want Brown there. Whatever NO decides to do I'm cool with, just as long as we win some games.
