Okay, let's assume draft day comes, our pick comes up, and available are five players, one at each position, and each, by a miraculous coincidence, has an identical age, ceiling and floor to the other. There's no BPA - they're all equal. Which should we take?

If we have 5 people in the same Tier when we draft, we should get a PG. I love Ant, but he is clearly a SG.

Power forward simply because we already have Simons, Trent, Little, and Collins as our future. We just need a power forward. But we can argue that a point guard is also a need since Simons isn’t terrific at playmaking for others...at least not now. So point guard could also be a good way to go but I feel there’s a lot of young point guard in the league that we could trade for. It’s not as easy to get a good power forward though

Same tier in terms of long range potential, or in terms of actual contribution? If you mean hypothetical upside, my response is to draft the guy who has shown the most actual game!

Beyond that -I am struggling to answer. A back-up PG makes sense....unless Whiteside is asking for too much (very likely) in which case we need a 4/5....of course the combination of Hood's injury and Ariza's age point to a 3!

Center. No depth behind an injury prone starter.

It’s very likely that we bring Whiteside back. Coronovirus has shot down any chances of him going to another team. I do really like Vernon Carey and Omer Yurtseven. I think they both have a potential to be solid starters in this league. So we can draft either of them and they can learn from Nurkic and Whiteside

I disagree. I think there’s little chance Whiteside returning. We’ll see.

A case can be made for all 5 spots.
    This is my order
    1. An explosive young backup PG who can play now or slowly be groomed.
    2. A young center-maybe a Euro who slips down a little but who has huge upside
    3. A PF who can guard the perimeter and stroke it from deep.
    4. A combo SG/SF with length who possesses every skill

Yeah after giving it a little more thought you could be right actually. I think the money won’t be a problem. But the issue will be whether or not if Whiteside will accept being a super back up to Nurkic. Every time Nurkic name have been brought up he almost always say how excited he is to start along side Nurkic. We all know that a twin tower of Nurkic and Whiteside isn’t gonna end well. So it’s really gonna be up to Whiteside if he want to come off of the bench and compete for a champ or to find a place to start elsewhere which is gonna be super hard to find

I vote Small Forward ….Ariza is old and Rodney is coming off a bad injury...Trent will only be cheap for one more season...draft a SF....I think we can get a PF from the G league

Umm...we have Little still. In this draft he would easily be a top 10 talent. I think PF is a bigger need that we all tend to forget about

Now we have Zach, Biggie, Melo, Hoard, Little ...all can play some PF

Okay then you were talking about SF so we have Ariza, Hood, Trent, Little, Mario, and Gabriel who all can play SF. The first 5 are or nearly guaranteed to come back next year. And for PF only Collins and Little are guaranteed to come back

I said we can get a PF like Biggie in the G league and draft a SF.....I also think Mario and Melo are playing PF...not SF...our SF rotation has been Ariza, Trent and Hood..

Do we have any PFs on our roster? I know Zach's SUPPOSED to be that, but I hear people say all the time that he's better at C. If you're starting 90 year old Carmelo there, you're probably in need of an upgrade.

That would be the reason I voted Zach. Now, if Hoard is actually a player that's less of a need, but aside from that relatively unlikely possibility, I feel like that's where we have the least quality depth next season.

Aside from PG, that is, but I don't want a rookie PG running our second unit (or Simons); IMO, that spot should be filled by a FA.

I think we can add a seasoned true back up pg that makes few mistakes, and is a scappy defender.

Always draft the best available player IMO despite need. Need can get you in trouble in the draft.

Agreed. Doesn't change my stance. But hey, if they decide to give Peyton Pritchard a look in the second, I won't complain too awful much.
