I think this is where we have a problem with society. People sticking by someone even if they're wrong about something.

If I started dropping racist lingo and started saying offensive things, would you stand by me? Stick up for me?

Hell, if my best friend started dropping "those ****'s need to go away", and said it in front of an Asian person, I wouldn't be like "woah woah woah, he's a good guy!" I'd be like "wtf??"

Thankfully, my friends don't say stupid shit like that, but I also recognize that they're adults and if they want to say something stupid that's on them, not on me.

I do not know ABM and do not really care one bit about him specifically, so please do not take it as a comment on this, but this kind of attitude is exactly what brought us to the awful displays of police brutality and discrimination - when people that know better close ranks to protect those that they know / serve with.

Sorry Lanny, but logically, I think this kind of behavior is unreasonable. If someone I know is wrong, he is wrong, even if I love them.

Lanny, respectfully, I disagree. A true friend/spouse/partner will tell you the truth.

Part of being a good friend, spouse, partner, is backing them when you feel they are right but also letting them know when you think they are wrong.

...so we should blindly back our friends/spouses/partners, no matter what?....classic.

...not surprising from someone who concedes Trump's shortcomings but still backs him no matter what...part of this country's problems in a nutshell.

I'm compelled to tell you that when you impugn my character regarding my friendship with ABM. Yeah, I'll always take issue with that. I've said my piece and have no desire to continue.

When those you care about have issues with me, I take it up openly if possible and privately if need be.

Look, I like you and I like Propagandist but I don't like anyone attacking the character of anyone I like. I get it that you guys have big issues with ABM as do I but I separate politics from friendship. If you're going to attack friends on political or similar issues then you're not going to keep very many friends.

Attack ABM's politics but leave his character out of it. Please

Lanny, read again what I said and more importantly what I did not say. I merely replied to someone else's post.

Unlike you, I don't have separate politics from friendship with ABM because, well, he's not my friend...and fwiw, IMO, the grief he gets from others around here, he brings on himself.

Prop...remember you can pick your friends but you're stuck with the relatives. You dont have to like them you must love them.....

You don't have to love anyone you don't want to, relative or not.

Ive said it before. A true friend talks to another friend if they think they are wrong in something.

Most friends just let friend look like asses.
Not a real friend in my book.

Stand by your friends in public, but set them straight in private. Obviously there are lines... blatant racism, violence on the innocent, etc.

Also, I find it funny anyone in here calling anyone else a hypocrite. There are soo many democratic hypocrites ,just like republicans and Christians. This.. "I'm right and just, because i'm a liberal dem." is pukeworthy....

by the way, it looks like trump's niece has written a tell-all book filled with "salacious details" and will be releasing it in August. Reportedly, she was the source of the Pulitzer Prize winning series in the NYT on how Fred Trump avoided severl hundred million in taxes that benefited the orange man

It won't make a different to his voters, nor do I trust that any Trump, by marriage or by birth, is not a grifter.
