<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Nets said goodbye to two big men while preparing to welcome another.Free agent forward/center Jamaal Magloire last night agreed to a one-year deal with the Nets shortly after Mikki Moore, who responded with a career year when he stepped in for the injured Nenad Krstic, decided to sign with the Sacramento Kings .</div>http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives..._sign_magloire/
They'll benefit more from this signing then resigning Moore. Especially for a year. Good pickup by the Nets.
I love this move for the Nets...Magloire has talent, just needs to stay healthy and he'll be motivated by Kidd and Carter. Probably is coming in a hell of a lot cheaper than Mikki Moore as well.
moore fits this style better but magloire is a way better player and they got him for cheap for only 1 yeargood signing to replace him

The Nets need the rebounds Also do not forget that 2003-2004 season there was no Chris Paul so that was Magloire hard work and effort that gave him that season average. As Stephon Marbury said about the trade for Zach Randolph, "It was a Power Move, we needed it and we got it. we got a younger youthier player in (Insert Jamaal Magloire instead of Zach Randolph's name)".There is also rumors that the pursuit of Jermaine O'Neal is not completely over for the Nets and with the acquirement of Jamaal Magloire this can also be another pawn to acquire the king of the trade which is the All-Star Player Jermaine O'Neal. Trading Richard Jefferson and possibly Jamaal Magloire for such of caliber player in Jermaine O'Neal who averaged last season PPG 19.4, RPG 9.6, and BPG 2.6. This will give us a big man that can play hardcore defense and a small man within Jason Kidd that can play hounding defense in the guard position. We must not forget about the Small Forward Position options of Antoine Wright and Bostjan Nachbar which are great propects between Offensive player in Nachbar or a Defensive player in Wright. There is also another perspective the New Jersey Nets can pursue if they acquire Jermaine O'Neal and lose Richard Jefferson in the process and that is to place Vince Carter in the Small Forward Position and start with maybe the most unique line-up by starting two point guards to set a flow in there distribution or instead start SG Eddie House.
Good pick up by the Nets to bring Maglore. I don't really think Moore will do so well in the Kings because Moore did well in the Nets cause of Jason Kidd who is a true point guard. Mike Bibby might be going to the Cavs, so the Kings don't have a good point guard who can give passes to Moore like Jason Kidd.
Bad signing. They needed an OFFENSIVE big man, not another offensive stiff that will only go out and get rebounds....
Well, at this point there wasn't much avaliable, so they had to take something. Magloire was among the best avaliable, so they had to make a the best possible quick fix.

But I guess they waited too long...plus there is always trades...But they DO not need another big man who couldn't post up if his life depended on it.
Jamal was an All Star once before and I believe with Jason Kidd throwing him the ball he can become one again. This should work out well.

I do not agree with what you statement before either about Jamaal Magloire being an offensive stiff player because with a PG like Jason Kidd he will be feed the ball more often and will also see play more game time. Jamaal is also very much needed because of his rebound to help Jason Kidd who last season was the leading rebounder for the New Jersey Nets. I do agree though with there is always the idea for a trade to happen but right now I think the New Jersey Nets needs to groom correctly Sean Williams who could become the New Jersey Nets post up big man and another source of good athletic defense.
