Michael Jackson would have had an extremely tough time in lilly White, racist, Oswego. We didn't even have an Asian in town. We had a German family and an Italian family and they had a tough time. My town even looked down on Catholics although we had and still have a very prominent Catholic church in town, Our Lady of the Lake. There was a lady I saw every day going for a walk through downtown Oswego with her child who got great respect. We all felt a great deal of empathy for her. But a minority? Not only no but hell no. They were all looked down on. Minorities included Jews whom the other kids hated for some unknown reason. Well, that was the early 50s to the late 50s.
One thing I always enjoyed while living in Bend.....the 4th of July Pet Parade!! I guess they're going virtual this year.....however that'll look. https://www.bendparksandrec.org/activities/4th-of-july-festival/
I was on the original and official Trailblazer fan site run by Casey, Sarah Hecht, Dustin and Justin before it disappeared.....HCP invited me here after the old one became a spam site with few members..it got really negative there.....I've never belonged to any other Blazer forum before these two forums...I actually had a life back then that didn't have time for social media
I’ve been on basketballforum, hoops world and even some fox sports board that was really passionate about the blazers in the late 90’s. there was some dude named mpls or something that was super knowledgeable back then I’ve always been a nerd for my Blazers I remember XericX
Many here migrated from the old O-Live (Oregonian) message board, then to another board (can't recall the name) that was moderated by the Gestapo. IIRC, I led the charge over here. The mods welcomed us with open arms and said this place was a virtual Sweden, comparatively.
I tried Blazersedge for one visit....it was a bunch of groupies going....yeah Dave! That's right Dave! ...if you disagree with Dave there the hordes will come at you with the torches and pitchforks and there was NO sense of humor
The big migration was from FanHome to BasketballBoards.net to S2. We picked up people from Oregon-Live at each step along the way. I posted a little on Oregon-Live prior to FanHome...back in like 2000, I think.
I got into it with Dan/Hap about Obama. Then I got banned. Then I made myself a martyr and the whole thing melted down after that.
A bunch of us from the old ESPN Blazers forum also got sucked into the BasketballBoards.net looney house, but for the life of me I can’t remember why.
