It took me and many others until the all-star break to even have a slight spark of interest in the 95 season. The only thing worthy of the 81 farce of a season was the World Series, and even that stunk to high hell. It would behoove everyone, players, owners et al to write this season off. There will be deeper losses if this season is played, than writing it off. Next year is going to be much like 95, or even 82, 1/2 empty stadiums or worse. Revenue will be way down below even the worst expectations, and I bet TV revenues aren't what MLB will be expecting. Ntm- there's still going to be a helluva lot of unemployed people, who can't afford to take in a game, let alone pay for the cable bill etc.
Per Tampa Bay News Nine "Sports Minute" this AM it seems very likely that there ain't gonna be Rays Baseball in '20!
The usual horrible injury luck continues for the Yankees. CT scan was negative. He will now enter the concussion protocol. Hopefully, no lingering effects.
I read a week or two ago for of the Yankee players tested positive for Coronavirus. Names were not listed though. Today I see DJ LeMahieu and Luis Cessa tested positive. Does anyone know who else on the Yanks have Coronavirus?
I thought the same thing, i.e. Season hasn't even started and the Injuries pick up where they left off.
I'm already looking forward to the 2021 Season. I don't expect this Season to be anything more than a glorified Spring Training, with a ridiculous Post Season. OT with a runner on 2nd isn't fit for T-Ball. The deeper into Mannfred's tenure, the more my distaste grows, and trust diminishes. The Owners would be better off financially off to of called this season off. Performance(s) and accomplishments by individuals and teams will be meaningless. Who will be the one to hit .400 over 60 games? Players who've done as much: Chipper Jones, 2008: .409 Tony Gwynn, 1997: .403 Larry Walker, 1997: .417 Paul O’Neill, 1994: .417 Rod Carew, 1983: .411 Hank Aaron, 1959: .402 Ted Williams, 1948: .412 There are 4 active players to hit .400 over any span of 60 team-games within a single season. Those hitters are- José Altuve, in both 2016 and 2017 Joey Votto in 2016 Andrew McCutchen in 2012 Albert Pujols in 2003 Free-agent Hanley Ramírez, (who has yet to officially retire), also did so, in 2009. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id...hitter-how-wild-60-game-mlb-season-really-get Look for the Reds vs the Yankees in the 2020 World Series I mean the Bums vs the Yankees in the most meaningless W.S. in the history of MLB!
I've got mixed feelings about this season. On one hand I'm happy just to watch Baseball again, but on the other hand the credibility/legitimacy of who wins it all is diminished by playing only 60 games. So again, I've got strong feeling both ways.
Chapman has covid19; https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id...er-aroldis-chapman-tests-positive-coronavirus
Baseball has been absent since March 2020.......and yet my life goes on, whether they are playing or not.....sure, I miss the game, but not all the bullshit that seems to go on forever. Sports fans will be facing a “new” way of life......both summer & fall....where sports will be nothing like it used to be.
I remember a quote from a book I read many years ago; "For every man that walks in sunlight, another man walks in a denser shade". And in a way, that kinda applies to two different teams this season. On one hand the Yanx got a huge break because the layoff allowed several injured players to heal up...on the other hand the Astros are getting somewhat of a pass on their cheating fiasco because the covid coverage overtook the coverage of the cheating Astros..
How've you been, Lil?...how are you handling this civid situation? ...as far as that goes, what have the rest of you mofo's been doing to occupy your time during this crisis?
