While San Diego county has increasing cases - it is not a crazy hotspot like LA - yet, the SDUSD (Unified School District) will not open - I was told that the reason is that to do it safely will be stupid expensive - and they just do not have the funds. Our local School District just sent their current plans - and they will vote on it soon - but given what it means to open the schools - I suspect they, too, will consider remote learning - or at least only partial on-campus learning (like staggered 2 days a week or so for additional space). On the other hand - my oldest will be going to Minnesota to College in the upcoming year, so far, they are planning on having on-campus learning and from what we have heard, they have rented a lot of hotel rooms to expand their dorm capabilities - to have single student per room. My kid as a 1st year student will live on campus in the dorms, but I understand that 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students that live in the dorms are likely to be in the hotel rooms.
