The problem here is that the US has no social programs to support people during a time of crisis. We are a work till you die society and public education is the only day care we have to support this. So until we are ready to accept some level of socialism this is what we have and this is the hill the Trump admin has chosen to die on.

The argument for opening the schools seems to be (for some folks) that kids are not at serious risk of actually contracting Covid, let alone dying from it. Like every other bit of information we have been given, who knows how accurate this is? But what the current administration willfully ignores is that those little incubators can (and will) go around infecting those of us who are more vulnerable. Which will allow the cycle to perpetuate. So in effect, the older generation is being told to warehouse ourselves at home until a vaccine can be found, unless we want to get very sick at best, or die at worst. Like every other political fallacy, “It’s all about the children”..........At least until the election is over. This administration just keeps doubling (and tripling....and quadroopling) down on criminal stupidity. 135K “winners” and counting.......are we “great again” yet????
Our school district is giving us 3 options, as of today. 1. Back to school with social distance/recommended masks/cleaning and other guidelines 2. Distance learning - provided ipad (for elementary kids), videos of classroom activities a week later, provided materials from the school, and teacher check in via zoom once a week. 3. Home school on your own with no district support. As of today, we are planning to go with option 2.

It's amazing that this administration won't allow kids to go to school without vaccinations for illness that aren't a major threat, but this administration wants to send kids to school with an extremely serious pandemic and no vaccine. Makes no sense, but neither does trumpy.
