What's surprising is that the roster is so short, just 13 guys. Olshey must have a lot of confidence that nobody is going to get sick or injured.
Us having the smallest roster of the 22 teams looks ridiculous. I mean we should have picked up some extra bodies or even one more extra guy. They allowed an extra two roster spots (16) so we went with one less than usual (13). Not cool. We could have picked up another PF either get a vet like our old friend Dante Cunningham or the Manimal or take a flier on a young guy like Dragan Bender. I just don't get it.
I have thought that also sometimes; but since we have this shortened preseason I like the idea of the guys who will actually be playing getting the work in, especially working with each other.
Two factors I see: 1) Our "small town" guys are more likely to keep a low profile in the bubble, stay out of trouble, and not get sick/quarantined. 2) The smaller the roster, the less likely each person is to get exposed. Carrying extra "just in case" players increases the exposure risk for everyone.
Why? You planning on THIS roster winning this whole thing? I'm just hoping we get through this circus without anybody getting hurt.
I want the team to get further than we did last season. So yeah I do want them to win it. I'm not making any plans for them to win it all but if Chuck is right then we would have a real chance at getting pretty far. I know that means that your Lakers wouldn't make it out of the first round and I also know you are "planning" on their "roster winning this whole thing". I just think that our Blazers are going to get that eighth spot and very likely upset your plans.
Wait, do you feel like you have more valid opinions than Charles Barkley on EVERYTHING basketball related??? Oh and I don't hitch my wagon to anyone, I just point out when real experts (I know Chuck doesn't like that term) agree with me.
More valid, I don't know. More educated, I don't know. How does one acquire "basketball knowledge"? On the courts playing, on the couch watching and analyzing, reading books? Who knows? I know Chuck's track record ain't too great though. As far as me and my opinions, I'd like to think I know hoops. Grew up playing it everyday of my life. Had more success in the parks, than on teams though. Grew up playing with future college players, pros that went onto careers in Europe and Asia and 2 a few NBA players........so I always told myself THAT was the reason why I didn't succeed, HA! I have now worked day in day out for 21 years with NBA coaches and players. I'd like to think I acquired some usable info simply by osmosis.
Dark Horse Bubble Teams? Mine's OKC: I think if Roberson is really healthy, they're going to be excellent on defense and they're already excellent on offense. I'd love to see them knock Houston out of the playoffs.
Oh, I know you have credentials sir. I really do think that the Blazers have a good shot at beating your Lakers in the first round. We'll just have to find out what happens since all of us just have all of our experience and intellect to draw from in making predictions that are rarely spot on.
