He's not that fond of Trump and prefers a much more palatable, Kasich.

    Kas
Kasich is polite while taking away civil rights.

There is no fondness vote. You vote for someone or you don't. When you vote for someone it's the whole package. You don't get to say you want four more years of corruption and incompetence even though you aren't fond of the person.

ABM has already stated a preference for voting for someone other than Trump in the next election this November.
Do I agree with his choice? No, but I respect his decision to vote for someone other than Trump.
Glossing over ABM's politics allows me to enjoy friendship with a person I know to be good at heart. I've known some awfully nice people who actually support Trump and have worse politics than ABM by far. One was a VA bus driver from Tennessee who is the nicest guy you'll ever have the pleasure of meeting. We just don't discuss politics. The driver treats all Veterans with the greatest respect and is a Veteran himself. He treats Blacks the same as Whites.
I will make this remark, one of the absolute nicest guys I've met drives an ambulance delivering patients to the VA hospital and taking them home is a transsexual and he's got all my support. I think of him when I see people disparage transsexuals in here. I'm firm about that the way I'm firm about political correctness. I won't allow anyone in my presence who disparages a minority group through no fault of theirs.

Thank you, Sir. I look forward to seeing you soon. While we'll be in Oregon next weekend, I probably won't get to see you as it appears we're all headed straight to Hood River and The Dalles. That said, I'll make plans to come out there again post-election so we can settle up and have some laughs over dinner and drinks. It may have to be in January, though, as we were out there last Christmas and my wife will demand we stay home this coming holiday season.

    You're the best, Lanny. :)

I can't drink much alcohol and I have to take you up on one free drink but I'll bring the wine if you'll tell me if you'd prefer a bottle of Dom Perignon or a quality red when we do get together for that dinner.

Sorry lanny. Not buying it. He spends way to much time defending and supporting trump in this forum.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Leaving aside the ABM stuff, I just thought I'd let you know that much of the transgender community finds the term "transsexual" offensive, largely due to its roots, when it was often used a way to communicate deviance and even mental illness. Your friend may or may not consider it offensive, but I just wanted to mention it in case you weren't aware that many transgender people do.

I have friends with whom I disagree on various issues but there are lines. Cross them and we're not friends. One is that women are full human beings capable of making our own personal decisions. Another is equal civil rights. If someone thinks I do not deserve the rights they take for granted for themselves, they are not my friend.

Cup, you know I like you and agree with many of your issues but I wasn't expecting to convert you to seeing ABM as a decent human being. I knew that was too much to expect. I was casting my net wide in hope of getting someone to think about it.

Agreed but I don't see that in ABM.
My wife wants me to mark her ballots the way I'd like to see them but I force her to decide for herself on issues and candidates even if she largely agrees with me. Once in a blue moon she disagrees with me and that, believe it or not, is so refreshing that it makes me feel good. She definitely has her own mind and except when it involves safety I bend to her will. She holds the purse strings except for our investments. I decide on mine, she decides on hers and we both have to agree on the mutual investments. When it comes to spending she's the boss but almost never vetoes me. If it comes to a disagreement on spending we will work it out or she simply says no. Now, the next time we get a government check she's decided to buy an expensive purse which she ran it by me before settling on it. I love her and will let her have her way on almost anything that's not safety related.
My father taught me at the age of about 16 that there was nothing better than marrying a woman smarter than you. I've added some other features that I'm sure my father would have agreed on had he not died in a tragic fishing accident while I was overseas fighting a war and that's loyalty, life long commitment, joy and a love of God and Jesus. We are both loyal church members and give even if we can't attend church whether it be sickness, Covid=19 or whatever because our church uses the money to run the building and pay salaries as well as help the disadvantaged. Fortunately we have members who are much better well off than we so our church gets out there and helps with such things as feeding and clothing the poor regardless of their faith or lack of faith. A human being is a human being and all deserve respect.
My hate is pretty much reserved for Trump and a few of his closest henchmen. I have no hate for anyone in here nor do I ever intend to hate anyone I know in here or personally.
Sorry, I kind of got off subject there but I had to get it off my chest and your comment about respecting those that respect women gave me to opportunity to spout off even though I 100% agree with you about respecting women.

Well, all I can say is we see a certain poster differently; however, I would never tell anyone else with whom they should or should not be friends.

If I decide to get married I will definitely want a smart woman.
