Looks like he was going for the ball to me. Ariza hate seems unfounded.

    1) The Blazers would not be allowed to re-sign him until the '21-'22 season (so using the MLE on him is irrelevant).
    2) I think this is going to be a rough off-season for most of the FA. I doubt that Ariza will get $7M+ on the open market.

Correct. However, I don't think his contract will have much (if any) value at the deadline.

    That was the original question.

We are talking about both. Not debating right or wrong, just whether his opting out makes any difference in the Blazers waiving or keeping his full salary for next season.

Cbafaq is down and cannot check but we should still have his early bird rights, even with waiving him.

Fuck Ariza for his cheap shot on Rudy. Hated him ever since.

We could trade CJ, Ariza and Collins to San Antonio for Aldridge, DeRozen and Murray + their #1 selection in the draft.

    Dame, Murray, Adams
DeRozen, Trent, vet free agent shooter
    Anthony, Little, Draft pick
    Aldridge, Hood
    Nurkic, Whiteside

Incorrect. Ariza is under contract for the '20-'21 season & its partially guaranteed.

If Portland cuts him, he cannot be re-signed until after his contract expires (June '21).

Somehow my phone lets me get to cbafaq.com thru his Twitter link but not directly. My thinking was that we could use the non-bird exception. That is not allowed since he would have to clear waivers.

In regards to being limited on when we could resign him, it may be even longer. Says for however long the salary is stretched for. Not sure if that is cap or actual though. Might also be locked into stretching three years since it is more than 250k.

Collins isn’t showing me much. Hood / Melo both can play 3/4.

The player we need to re-sign is Whiteside! I think he and Nurkic are a perfect pairing. With Aldridge, Melo, DeRozen and Dame...and youth like Trent, Little, Adams, Simons et al....

Always thought he swiped at the ball :dunno:

Never thought it was dirty, rather careless or dangerous

I think a lot of teams will be angling for '21 cap space, which could make a large expiring somewhat useful. Of course, we've seen many a plan come through portland based on TPEs and large expirings, and nothing much ever comes of them, so...

I'd love to see Trevor back. He fit in flawlessly. And provides two things the Blazers need, defense and 3 pt. shooting.
