The Miami Heat is continuing its search for a point guard and has expressed interest in free agents Steve Francis, Brevin Knight, Jannero Pargo and Smush Parker. Also, the agent for Juan Carlos Navarro said the Heat and Washington Wizards have had recent trade discussions regarding the standout guard for FC Barcelona. Navarro, who can play both guard positions, wants a portion of the $5.4 million midlevel exception. Link------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------They really need to try to get Francis. With Wade and Shaq being injury prone, and them having no reliable third option, Francis would be a good pickup. He may not be the scorer he was in the early 2000s, but he still has a past of scoring and could step up when needed with given playing time.

If Navarro is brought to the Heat, it's likely that they feel confident in keeping Jason Williams as the 3rd option and starting PG for at least until Navarro has adapted to the NBA. If Navarro isn't traded for the Heat should certainly try to sign Steve Francis. Now that he's not in an unbelievabely messy back court, Francis could potentially get close to returning to his 'Stevie Franchise' numbers.
I agree, right now Francis is probably our best bet. He is one of those high risk guys that could either be a great signing or an absolute mess but right now we need a third scorer and with Mo Williams off the market, I think Riley needs to take that risk, Ive really thought about t and I think Riley could keep Francis in line and could make him the same player he was a few years ago. Anyway if he doesn't work out its probably only a one year thing anyway. I say its time to take a risk on Francis.
He played PG in Houston and Orlando and did a pretty good job. 05-06 was the first season he didn't average over 6 assists. Plus, he'd be playing beside Wade who is another playmaker. The Heat need a scorer, and Francis is the best avaliable on the market.
