I like Motorola. They pack a lot into a mid price phone. Also they run a very clean android. No bloatware. And their batteries are huge. I was going to get the Moto G Stylus, my woman has had it for a month and it's a nice phone. But this just dropped yesterday. https://www.motorola.com/us/smartphones-motorola-one-fusion-plus/p 128gigs 4 cameras 5000 mAhs battery $399. That's a hell of a lot of phone for the money.
iPhone XR. I’m surprised how many non iPhone people in here. I guess. Maybe not. Also surprised how recent some of you got phones.
Same. I get a new iphone basically every year. Not cause Im particularly in love with them. I have new samsung devices too. I just find apples stuff generally just works and since I have way better devices for other things. I just want my ‘phone’ to be reliable. I find the only stuff andriods are generally better for is, hacking and more ‘fun’ type software projects.
I have a Samsung Galaxy J3.... 6 I think? The battery is really bringing me down though, so I'm thinking about the Iphone SE or the new $350 Pixel that was mentioned. The Motorola Sly just showed looks nice though because I need a great battery.
OK. Little math here: I have a Samsung S10+. Thinking to upgrade to a Samsung Note S20 Ultra. Retail on the Ultra Note 20 is $1300. Trade in Value of the S10+ is $550. Total cost to me would be $750 + 130 in taxes (based on retail price) = $850. Samsung has 10% Rakuten Ebates cash back which would negate the taxes, so it would be $750 total. Get $200 accessory credit so I'll probably get the new samsung earbuds too. Seems like a lot, until you factor in: S10+ is old and the trade in value won't be high in the future. When I get the Note 20, my trade in value will be high for several years. In 2 years, I'll probably be able to trade in that Note 20 for $500. I've had my device approximately 18 months. The battery will need to be replaced on it probably in another year or so? Not sure if its worth doing. I extend the value of my trade in device for a while, get a faster phone with better camera. Not sure if its worth $750 though. The accessory credit isn't very valuable as I'm ok with my previous generation samsung buds, I'll probably get another pair + some overpriced case maybe? BUT, it will extend the trade in credit of my current phone (what would that value be, I'm thinking $300 or so) plus I'll have a greater camera/computer in my pocket. So it would cost me $450 theoretically ($750 minus the value of getting a brand new phone that holds value in trade in for the future), with a pair of $150 ear buds? Thoughts? Fuzzy math but fuck it. Trying to overanalyze it. By Black Friday, the Note 20 would probably cost $1000 or so? I mean these things lose their value pretty quickly.
well, you just posted a chart showing you use 15GB/month in data (or more), so obviously, you live on your phone. That means you could probably justify a pretty big investment. but from what I know about electronic devices, a 50-70% difference in cost is often tied to bells & whistles. Features that are very narrow and specific. I also know Samsung makes high-priced phones. But I have no clue what features you want that Samsung has, you couldn't get elsewhere. And I'm assuming a $550 trade-in value only kicks in if you upgrade Samsung? If so, that's a big factor I have a Moto G7 Power. I don't have a cell account but my wife does. But if it was me (and it was), I'd buy a fully unlocked Moto from Amazon. They sell models that are fully unlocked for both GSM and CDMA networks, which means you'd have the freedom to change providers and still use the same phone. All you'd need is a sim card. Those phones have a huge battery too but again, if you like Samsung, are use to them, and can leverage your old phone and are happy with your provider....
The 550 is a limited promotional trade in value ("enhanced" as they call it as i signed up before the reveal). I think the standard trade in is $350. Honestly the S10 suits my needs, I just feel it may be obsolete in 2 years as 5G is more widespread and I would have to pay more for a premium phone with no trade in option. Plus standard phone wear and tear (mainly battery)
I've had a note 8 since Dec 2017. This is the first phone i havent had ONE problem with. I'm hesitant to switch to anything because of the annoyance of transferring files and then having to be extra careful with new phone But the ultra is enticing. CHANGE MY MIND EL PRES!
interesting. I might buy one and take the boards out, put redhat on it or some linux distro, and test it as a dev board.
