I think bettman doesn't want to alienate his puppet teams like edmonton, pittsburgh and toronto so he instead fixes it for our rangers.
The Jets winning wouldn't be the worst thing for us. They are in the West, and we'd move up to # 10. While I would like the Wild or Jets to win the lottery if it isn't us, which would move us up to # 10, as long as the Pens don't win it I'll be okay. If you gave me a second team I don't want to see win it I would say the Leafs. They have a lot of talent upfront, and they don't need another stud. But if the Pens win the lottery I am revolting against the NHL. Also with the Leafs eliminated we are now locked into obtaining the Canes pick. So root for the Bruins to beat them, which would leave our second 1st round pick around 22 +/- depending on how the rest of the playoffs go.
Either way we will get a good player at 10 or 11. Or use that pick in a package to get a young, number 2 center. If Calgary gets asswhipped which I expect, Monahan could be had. Maybe TDA and Chytil for Monahan. He had a great playoff round but his regular season sucked. As Gaudreau sucked, so did he. Which tells me his production depends on a star. So I think that is enough for him.
