Yeah that was a great one. There was so much chaos at first at thought he tapped it to no one just to keep it away from the Grizzles.

How is it possible? Stotts sucks, we are the worst team playing defense and now we just made it to 7 straight playoffs? How?

I believe I can speak for a lot of CJ 'critics' when I say my view of CJ has been formed from watching him play in 527 games, and that a good game, or even a dozen good games, isn't going to offset those 527 games and change opinion. CJ has spent his career drafting off Dame, playing weak defense, and posting average efficiency. Today's game doesn't alter that reality

props to CJ. Memphis was twisting their defense and putting their best defenders on Dame. So Portland chose to not run any offense and just let CJ go one-on-one against single coverage by a rookie. CJ hit 3 big shots, and it helped the Blazers win the game. Again, props to CJ for hitting those shots, but you people acting like it alters the nature of his game, or that people critical of CJ should eat crow now, are barking at the moon

Well Olshey inherited a bad roster and was able to turn it around the following year with a 54-28 record so whatever he did worked and we have been in the playoffs ever since making it to the 2nd round that year and the WCF last year and making it again this year against all odds.

Well, you just established your bias against McCollum as he has had TONS more than a dozen good games. Without McCollums ability break down a defense and create a shot, Dame would have been completely worn down and we wouldn't have made the playoffs. Sure McCollum benefits from Lillard, but as was demonstrated today, Lillard also benefits from McCollum. He had 3 huge games alone in this bubble league.

he also inherited two lottery picks and major cap-space

and that 54-28 team failed against the Spurs because it had a shitty bench. Which is what was being discussed

Glad we got the job done today. Many reasons why you wanted to do that and not play tomorrow with top factors being the extra day of rest and also not allowing Memphis the momentum and knowing they can beat us had they beat us today. Bring it on Lakers. Kick there ass Blazers! Make LeBron cry!

You don't do internet Perry Mason very well. What I said was that after 500 games, a good game, or a string of good games doesn't alter his career or the view people have of CJ.

We all know he can go off for great games. They just don't come as often as they should for a 31M/year player. And unlike Dame or other good-to-great players, CJ doesn't consistently bring other things to the floor other than shooting. When CJ isn't hitting shots, he's not effective. And I have yet to see a defense come in with a defensive game-plan focused on stopping CJ

I wonder....has there ever been a 1 game playoff for a playoff seed?

I remember the Yankees and Red Sox in baseball doing it about 25 years ago....Bucky Dent!

    45 minutes - Dame
    44 minutes - CJ
    41 minutes - Nurk
    38 minutes - Melo

yeah...the extra day rest is critical. And that has disaster written all over it if Portland had to play again tomorrow

They are going to need to figure out how to get Trent into the offense again. 6 shots in 35 minutes just won't do it. Here is a guy who was on fire, but cooled off some, but they are not even looking for him these last couple games.

we clearly disagree and you are certainly entitled to your opinion, but don't try and project it as if the majority feel the same way you do. Discussing it with you accomplishes nothing as you have already way overstated your position and it just turns into another circular argument. I just happen to disagree with it. As for planning to stop McCollum, you have no clue what teams are doing in their planning to play us, but I would bet a ton of money that McCollum is definitely a focus of teams to stop. Teams don't just game plan to stop one player as all the players in the NBA are talented and as has been done many times guys you don't expect can come out and have a great game every now and then. McCollum just happens to have a lot more than many players in the league and likely the second most on the team.

You like to redo drafts so I will leave you with this

    https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2888254-re-drafting-the-2013-nba-draft-class

    https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/...greek-freak-leaps-to-cavs-at-no-1-in-redraft/

    https://hoopshype.com/2019/06/22/2013-nba-re-draft-the-way-it-should-have-been/#slideIdslide-2

So that's 5 redrafts with 2 putting McCollum at 3 and 3 having him at 4. Seems Olshey got a helluva steal. Anyway, I am done as got things to do. Great day to be a Blazers fan.

It’s always fascinating that people think “they just need to do this” and “why don’t they do that” and “we can’t defend Morant we suck”. This is the fucking NBA and there is another team of pros and NBA coaches on the other side trying to counter everything we are trying to do. Are the coaches who gave up 51, 61, and 42 to Dame shitty coaches who don’t know basketball?
