Ah ok, this must be what I saw earlier.

I guess now that I read it, it doesn't quite say what I thought it said, but I still think it's an indicator that people do get more engaged politically around the conventions.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
It's real people with real thoughts, but not like a friends group in meatspace. Here, people have anonymity (which changes behavior a lot) and everyone isn't friends--some people are, certainly, but you also have people who are indifferent towards you and people who don't like you. And lastly, it's all in text, which makes tone much harder for people to discern and misunderstanings much, much more common.

So even though it's real people, it's very different from real life contexts in which you might talk to people. You shouldn't use the standards you would in real life chats with your friends, because that's going to cause you endless disappointments and the fights you're having. I expect all sorts of misunderstandings, seeming irrationalities and people just plain being jerks to the avatar of perfection that is me. I just roll with it and move on, because I know this is very different from conversations with friends, especially in the physical realm.

That's fair this is such a weird year, and politics is literally in everything it feels impossible to escape it.

I believe independents & libertarians are the fastest growing parties. There is no doubt if this continues there could always be that wild card.

Couldn't the debates potentially saw a person one way or the other?

I'd prefer he's hypnotized to think he's a giant sloth and the snap back word be buried in a time capsule and opened 10 years from now...the key to the time capsule would be in Stormy Daniels possession

Don't you know? @Orion Bailey wants you to read every single word in the thread, and every linked article, and get some videos and more articles to share with him, and he will then mull it all over and get back to you after deciding whether your are playing by the rules he sets up and if not, say the problem is you.

Democratic convention closing night draws event's biggest TV audience

LOS ANGELES, Aug 21 (Reuters) - The closing night of the virtual Democratic National Convention attracted roughly 24.6 million primetime television viewers, the largest audience of the week, according to data from the Nielsen ratings agency.

The number covers viewership across 10 broadcast and cable networks from 10 p.m. to 11:15 p.m. Eastern time. It does not include people who watched via online platforms.

Thursday's proceedings concluded with Joe Biden accepting the Democratic Party's nomination for president in a speech delivered live from his home state of Delaware.

TV viewership was 17% lower than the night in 2016 when Hillary Clinton spoke as the party's first female presidential nominee. But the figures do not include online platforms that have jumped in popularity in the past four years as traditional TV viewership has declined.

Biden's campaign estimated there were an additional 35.5 million live streams over the convention's four days via websites and through digital platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. The statement did not say for how long each viewer streamed the event.

Democrats canceled plans to convene delegates and party leaders in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, due to the coronavirus pandemic. Instead, they staged a virtual event with celebrity moderators introducing live and recorded remarks from around the country.

The TV audience rose on each night of the event, with Monday's kickoff drawing 19.8 million viewers, Nielsen said.

The Republican nominating convention for President Donald Trump is next week.
