The only reason Mike Vick is getting judged on this so harshly is because he's the face of his franchise and one of the faces of the NFL. Millions of people look up to him as a role model and he completely screws everything up by doing this. Being black has nothing to do with it at all, if a white guy was doing this for six or seven years he'd get the same punishment, but Vick is a $100 million man who is bringing down the reputation of the league. No one is saying black people are the ones to blame, when have you ever seen guys like Donovan McNabb, Marshall Faulk, Torry Holt, Steve McNair, Tiki Barber, LT, Shaun Alexander, etc. be in serious trouble with the law?? Never. Roger Goodell is going to be accused of discrimination if he doesn't suspend Vick for at least a year, it sends the wrong message that a star QB can get away with killing dogs and betting heavy money on them where as three different guys are suspended for 8-16 games for crimes that aren't half as bad. I love Vick, but he needs to pay for what he did and realize it's his fault.
