Ironic that you're accusing me of not having a fully informed opinion on the candidates, and you do because you said so. I didn't say you're views are biased because of they are anti-gop or Trump, I said their bias because all of us have biased views.

I've addressed that already...nothing ironic about it. I didn't accuse you of not having fully formed opinions....I said if you don't, it's ok but don't confuse bias with convictions...it's the language you are harping on, not the substance. Bring on the vote....I'm ready

Well actually the Puerto Rico thing had nothing to do with you and you butted in to tell me how simple it is that they were citizens. HCP asked a question and I said, I wasn't sure about Puerto Rico / US ties and went and looked, and you went into how it is simple their citizens and that's it. I asked what Puerto Rican's thought, not about what the US thinks their status is. So no you didn't answer my question at all, because if the US considered them citizens wasn't the question.

I've said a bunch of times I want neither candidate as president so that seems like I have an idea what my convictions are.
I've even said who I'm voting for numerous times too.

I posted an opinion..and an answer to a question you posed..interesting how you view that....pretty telling actually...private conversations people usually use DM mode...wasn't aware it was a private conversation or if you just find interacting with my views distastful...which is fine

I find it tiresome and boring, that seemingly intelligent and well intentioned posters always make things personal. Not as in a personal attack, per se, but rather as if I am the one who is missing the point or biased in some way, shape or form. We all know what we know. That is what we are suppose to be here "debating". Not critiquing each other online on... who we think is biased or not.

Please stop trying to tell me that I am wrong or biased. I could just as easily do the same, which gets us nowhere very fast.

And I said I didn't hear lies from Michelle Obamas speech.....that's where this started....then it ended up being we're all shallow bubble bound sheeple without broad views but I could find dirt on Obama if I looked for it....right

I didn't have a problem with you butting in, it wasn't a private conversation, and that probably isn't the right way to say it, but you didn't answer the question that was I was asking.

I'm not trying to insult you but when you don't watch a speech...you don't get to call the speaker a liar in my world....I recommend Michelle Obama's speech for all Americans to hear....I think it was important.

well that's not what I said, I said we all have bias' and that plays a role in how we receive information, and what information we accept or don't accept.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Both parties have some level of corruption--our system is set up for corruption. That is to say, it's extremely difficult to create any political system that is completely free from the corrupting influence of money (that's why Winston Churchill once said that democracy is the worst system of government other than all the other ones) but the American system of representative democracy is particularly easy to game with dollars.

Both parties are hypocritical when it advantages them, both parties lie about certain things and make distortion and obfuscation an art form. This is all true.

What is also true is that you're never going to have a political party that is capable of attaining and wielding any power that is free of that corruption, within our system (and, potentially within any system that we can currently imagine). So, if you want any say in who wields the power of government, you really don't get an option of "support corruption or support pure, virtuous nobility." Your only option is supporting the party who's priorities in the policies that they will consider (and some things neither party will truly consider) most match your own.

Or, you can sit it out entirely because politics is a dirty game no matter who plays. That's a perfectly reasonable viewpoint, though I think it would be a counterproductive one if most people chose that route. Fortunately, most people don't choose that route, freeing some people to do so.

I wouldn't pretend to know the answer to this but, Puerto Rico is unincorporated territory, do people living in Puerto Rico consider themselves part of the United States?
that was the original question. There are places all over the world considered 'citizens' of a 'bigger' country that the residents consider themselves indepedant or want to be independent. Thank you for your answer, but I was asking about what Puerto Rican's think in terms of their status with the United States. That was it.

I mostly agree with this. Though voting for bills, ballot measures, all that and voting third party isn't sitting out in my opinion, but I understand why others feel it is.

I answered that question too...they've never succeeded in voting for statehood yet....apparently they prefer the territorial status which gives them free movement within the states and the right to work .....

And the democrats and republicans don't get to be corrupt together in my world.

Obama was already a liar as president, way before his speech. No need for me to ever watch a speech by either of the Obama's.

I think we are at an end here. Take it easy. :icecream:

If I were to exploit illegals, it would be to call to attention how they're undermining all those hard efforts of those who have managed to get here legally.

If I thought that every politician was irretrievably corrupt, I don't think I'd pay very much attention to politics.

It would be a bit like following the NBA if I hated basketball.

I was disappointed by night one of the RNC, not enough entertainment value. I hope they can do better tonight.
