Variety -
LeBron James will host the season premiere of "Saturday Night Live."

"It's nice to get people who aren't in show business to host," "SNL" producer Steve Higgins told Daily Variety. "Sports stars tend to be less frightened because they are used to performing in a live setting."

With James, who took the Cleveland Cavaliers to the NBA Finals this year, "SNL" hopes to reprise the successful perf of Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, who hosted the show last season.

As we all know, LeBron's personal goal is to become a world icon. Hosting the ESPY's and now this are small steps to reaching his dream. SNL over the past 2 years has gotten funnier after a horrible stint when Will Ferrel left. Now the show is adding more variety to hosts and LeBron should be a good fit. I will watch this, it should be funny.

I like watching LeBron on TV and everything, obviously because I'm a Cleveland fan and hes the King of my city. But hes not a great actor, IMO. I don't watch SNL, but I'll tune in for the main reason of LeBron being on it.

How much power does LeBron actually have in Cleveland? Could he like turn half the city into Bron Village?

I'm not saying they've never done it before but over the past couple of years it has quieted down. Peyton Manning was the first athlete to host in quite some time.

SNL is much better than it was in previous years because of the writing, they don't have big name comedians there but they do have really funny ideas to bring to the table. Tom Brady was awsome as a host, Peyton Manning couldn't act but they still gave him some hilarious things to do like beaming little kids with a football and get purposely bashed for being himself, and now LeBron will get a shot at being in the spotlight for and hour and a half. I really think he's going to have a sketch for The LeBrons Season 3 on there. [IMG]
