All that is is the police attorneys version of what happened, which is not necessarily the "truth". This is a key portion of the link One could argue he is saying that to just cover their butts/distance themselves from any declarations in case it turns out what was released wasn't based in reality. To believe this is the "truth" is just as misguided as thinking the defendants lawyer is speaking the truth.
The initial reports that caused a huge sports shutdown were... quite a bit off.... we are a hasty, kneejerk country that has lost the ability to withhold judgement until all facts are divulged.... its so fing concerning that its this mentality that is gonna continue to accelerate clashes and all out civil war will soon follow. It will likely turn into a racial war even when both sides will have people who love all, on them. This is just insane and we are sheeple following media twisted headlines because the media are paid conglomerate puppets of those in power behind the scenes, financially. we have got to fight these kneejerk incorrect headlines and we must excersize more patience in our judgements of things. no way Blake deserved to be shot seven times. Its also no way the cops should have been forced to make a decision to shoot in the first place, if Blake wouldn't have resisted. there are two wrongs two be discussed here. We must not. We CANNOT ignore either side or we will never have equal justice.
okay. So you are saying they are lying about trying to taser and the scuffle, etc? what im saying is the reports now coming out are quite a bit different than the initial ones that caused the sports shutdown.
I'm saying that a lawyer is going to present the "facts" based on what he (or she) has been told and the cops are going to say one thing and the victims will say another thing. When the complete body camera footage is released, it will say something else.
There is no body cam footage to be released police in that district don't wear them. There is two separate video's, the 911 call, and witness reports.
okay. BUt when the first video was released, that didnt show a scuffle, the cops were already judged and condemned. Then new footage comes out and not one step backwards. This is not equal justice. This turning the blind eye to the victims actions will not initiate equal justice. It will reaffirm and cement the stance of those who oppose police reform. If we dont hold the victim in part responsible for his shooting, them how do we ever expect everyone to reach a compromise for equal justice and move on to a better, more peaceful future? yes it must be discussed the cop shot seven times and thsts just wrong. But it also needs to be discussed the victims actions that forced the cop to make a decision to shoot in the first place. He was presumably reaching for a deadly weapon after a scuffle ( fact)with the officers resisting arrest. sometimes you don't have all the facts(knife, gun?) before your forced to make a life aNd death decision. This report brings this news out in written form and im pushing the discussion of both sides, because im seeing a dismissal of the victims actions with a doubling down on the cops. To me, this is not right, fair or equal.
They don't have body cameras? That's lame. Point being, "the truth" is subjective. I didn't believe Mr Blakes lawyers version anymore than I believe the Police attorneys version.
I think it's fair to say from the evidence we have in this case the initial reporting, that he was there just to break up a fight he was a good samaritan, that didn't resist that stuff was not the truth. None of that means he deserved to be shot at all or seven times... There was a knife, it's been reported two different ways it was already on him, or that it was in the car, but either way there was a weapon. We know from the 911 call that the truth for why the police were called in wasn't reported factually from the start. There is also sufficient evidence to say he was resisting arrest. Does any of that mean he deserved to be shot at all (let alone 7 times), no it doesn't. It does mean though that our media needs to be much more careful in how they report things especially when things are so volatile right now. Edit: Oh and I Agree bodycams need to be a must country wide
I'm fairly certain I've never said one way or the other how I felt about this subject (maybe I have, there's a lot of posts made on here). I just don't think the end result should be him being shot 7 times. I don't believe most media reports on how things happen anyways.
I read this article a while back. https://www.govtech.com/data/Just-How-Common-Are-Body-Cameras-in-Police-Departments.html
I think you're conflating two different things here. Did Blake deserve to be arrested? He most certainly did. There is no question in that. Was 7 shots in the back at point blank range the appropriate amount and correct use of force to arrest him? No.
What caused the players to step away for 2 days was that a man was shot in the back SEVEN TIMES!!!!!!!
i don't think i am and i addressed both as separate in bold in the post you quoted.... you must have missed it...
