It just isn't a movie without popcorn and a coke. If it's a drive-in then a cheap ass pizza that tastes like cardboard and they warm it up in a microwave that cost's $100 bucks with a $25 dollar coke is a must. The popcorn and coke at a sit down movie is a mere fifty bucks.

We're now just waiting for the call back from Vanderbilt to schedule our testing (this week). The results are generally withing 24 hours. If all is well, we're planning to go to the movie on Sunday. We'll be taking all the precautions.

    So is the movie theater....

I have been watching new movies from home. Just saw the new Bill and Ted movie. It was most excellent.

OK, so Vanderbilt FINALLY called me back this morning. They were the clinic that diagnosed me positive with COVID a couple of weeks ago. I told the gal my situation…that the state had declared me “COVID-free!”, but that I was wanting to venture out this weekend and take in a movie, etc., "Soooo, just to be safe, I’d like to be tested again. You never know about these things.” She responded by telling me if I don’t have any current symptoms, then they can’t test me again as they have to save those tests for folks having upcoming surgeries, and the like. I’m, like, “OoooKay? So, if I want to get tested, what are my options?” She then gave me the number of the state health division and basically said sayonara, have fun, and good luck.

I then called the state and was surprised that they answered so quickly. I had a very lengthy, yet nice and helpful, chat with the lady there. We went through my whole history with the COVID – what I had been doing, how and when I think I contracted it, what I had been doing (or not) since then, etc. - and she then told me that, “technically”, I’m COVID-free, but that, “You just never know about these things. We’re getting new information every day, and if it were ‘me’, I’d go ahead and get tested again.” She then told me where the closest state drive-up center was and we hung up.

I immediately got in my truck and headed down there. I was pretty surprised that the whole event only took around 5 minutes. It was interesting how they did the test in that they stick the swab way up there (stings a bit). I mentioned that the first test I had was just a light swab just inside each nostril and not way up the passage. The dude laughed and quipped, “Yeah, we do it the RIGHT way here! No quick tests!” As I’m driving off, I’m then thinking to myself, Hmmmm…I wonder what that all means? <shrug>

I should know my results in a few days. My wife didn’t go with me. She thinks if I’m negative, then so is she. What-a-ya-gonna-do.

That’s my story and I’m definitely sticking to it.

I absolutely can't get a test even if I'm willing to pay the full asking price and I've got at least ten risk factors.

Yes you can. OHSU has drive up testing. Drive up, stay in car. Very easy. Results in one day.

My doctor says the VA will not do the test unless I have sufficient symptoms.

This information is really new for me. How much is it and how soon will I get the results? Two weeks is useless. Less than two days is preferable.

Also, are these two locations where OHSA administers the test or are they in addition to drive thru testing at OHSU?

Geez Sly. A good boy would have at least provided that information.

I have twice been notified that I have been in contact with people who have been found to have covid 19. So I have been tested twice.

It is free. The ask for billing information but if your insurance doesn't cover it then OHSU picks up the cost.

You do have to download the OHSU medical app and sign up for an account but both times the results were in the app the next day.

Yes, those two locations are where OHSU administers the test. It's drive up testing meaning you stay in your car the entire time. You roll down your car window and a nurse does the test.

I do have one problem. I've had to go to the emergency room three times with bleeding of the nose that would not stop even several hours later. They would have to be very gentle with the swab and it would still scare me. I swore the last time that I would never ever never ever never ever get another goddamned nose bleed. God those things are scary.

Don’t they test you if you give blood? That’s what I’m going to do. I’m assuming it means a free test and I get to help somebody too.

I can't give blood but I've done it four times in the past the first being during the Vietnam war when I first went to college. I told them that my blood must be given to a wounded soldier.
The next three times were while working at Tektronix. They provided the facilities for the Red Cross to take blood as well as the time off for any employee who wanted to give blood. Another great reason why I loved working there.
I tried to give blood after I got back from Vietnam but was still in the Army but they won't take it if you are back from Vietnam less than a year so I was rejected.

Is everyone in here REALLY staying at home??!!

Seriously, nobody is venturing out beyond their property boundaries?

I go out on the weekend to a sports bar & grill. I've been to Sunriver a couple of times since the pandemic began. I follow all of the rules, but I think this whole lockdown thing is ridiculous and a complete overreaction to the situation.

Thank you. A stand up man if I've ever seen one. And I've actually met you, so I can say that with certainty.
