I wonder how interested the Heat would be in for a player like Rafer Alston. They are shopping for a point guard, and Alston could fit in with that team. Or maybe Brooks, while his stock is semi-high after the summer league?</div>I doubt they'd go for Rafer. He would be a nice fit....great 3pt shooter, ignites fast break, can take playmaking pressure off Wade. But he just isn't the caliber player that Battier is, whom would be more needed by the Heat if they were to trade Haslem. Anything is possible, but I doubt they'd go for it.

He cannot guard the PF's of the West like Duncan and Boozer. he also doesn't rebound well enough. Right now he is the best option that is within the realm of possibility. Meh. I'd much rather have Chuck Hayes, who rebounds better than these guys and is even less of an offensive liability.

Win-win situation for the Rockets but I don't get how they're going to find minutes for Francis, James, Head, Brooks, and Alston. I like Francis in Houston because it's a great situation for the fans and for Francis to come back to the place where he spent many seasons as an all-star and as the face of the Rockets orginization. Francis has to love this situation because he's got a great relationship with Yao and he will fit in well with Adelman's uptempo system. He should also give this team some more depth in case of another McGrady injury and he should be a nice 3rd scoring option behind Yao and Tmac in Houston.Francis, James, Brooks, Alston, and Head...?That is too many players to split minutes amongst which leads me to believe that Alston is the odd man out and the Rockets may shop him around for a PF. How about Miami? From what I have heard, the Heat have shopped around Udonis Haslem and he would be the perfect fit in Houston. The latest rumors have been a Battier to Miami trade in return for Haslem but this signing allows the Rockets to keep Battier and shop Alston around instead. Haslem for Alston + Brooks/Head?... seems like the perfect deal to me. The Rockets get their starting PF and with Jones possibly on the move to Miami, the Heat could add some backcourt scoring help with Alston and Head. Anyways, welcome back to Houston Stevie!
We should get Haslem, donno if it can be done. Miami wants a PG, so skip and some other things for Haslem would be good, donno if Miami would like that tho
Oh man I would definitely want Haslem on our roster. Rafer and maybe JL3 +/or a draft pick?If Haslem somehow comes to Houston, it will be an exact copy of my association starting 5.JamesMcgradyBattierHaslemYao

Maybe even an expiring contract or something.I really don't see the Heat trading Haslem unless it meant Battier in return.

He would be a great fit for us and he's perfect for the 4 spot we need.If Morey some how manages to trade Rafer+Head to Miami for Haslem, we would be serious contenders.Darryl Morey is on a roll man. Landing Scola while getting rid of V-Span, Getting Mike James, and now signing Steve Francis. That's pretty crazy, and I expect more from him later on.
Yeah, he has filled the team with players who can create their own shot which, next to rebounding, was the Rockets' biggest weakness vs the Jazz. Resigning Bonzi, James, Francis....it's looking very good. There will undoubtedly be instant offense off the bench.Still need a legit PF, though, to be true championship contenders. If we can somehow STEAL Haslem without giving up Battier, I think the Rockets would arguably be the front runner for a ring.
I think Alston will be traded now. They've got Mike James and Aaron Brooks as well now. It's not bad, as long as Francis doesn't get too cocky, and he plays inside the confines of the offense. He has to realize that he's not a first option anymore.
I think Scola's being underestimated. With him and Hayes as his backup, that's not a bad platoon at power forward. Also, Carl Landry was a nice pickup and could give some minutes as the third stringer. The hole I would fill if I were the Rockets with one of the guards as bait is probably a backup center. Mutumbo has yet to resign, but Rockets do seem intent on bringing him back. But Deke is likely to sign one more year as his age and best days of playing are behind him. Jackie Butler seems to have attitude issues and is unproven. So I would definately look at a backup for Yao and possible starter in case of injury. Moreso than a power forward. Because I think Scola is going to impact the team well and turns heads imo.

He hasn't been the #1 option for some time.

His rebounding and defensive numbers weren't anything special in international competition, and that's what the Rockets need. He has a lot of upside, and we got him dor very little, but I'd rather have a proven guy at PF, at least for this upcoming season.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>He hasn't been the #1 option for some time.</div>If a year and a half is quite some time, you are right.
