I'd like to see Bud get the Blazers to the #1 seed like he has done in other places. At least that gives Dame a shot.
True story. You can't win the Championship without getting to the playoffs. No question getting the #1 seed and having the luxury of resting players as the season ends and playing lesser teams to begin the playoffs helps the #1 seed. Getting past the Conference finals is always a crap shoot.
Dude i don't care for Terry either but Bud is fucking trash this year in the playoffs. Spo is coaching circles around him. If you thought Terry is slow at making adjustments, pay attention to Bud. Dude is so hellbent even on playing Giannis no more than 35 mpg when the season is on the line. No thank you
I agree with you on adjustments. I have considered the possibilty the Giannis' camp has all but demanded load management and the Bucks, scared of the possibility they'll lose him for nothing have ordered Bud to restrict his minutes. This isn't a game, it's a business.
Giannis doesn't seem like that kinda guy tho. Even load management king Kawhi never pulled that shit in the playoffs.
Not many coaching today have won it all. https://basketball.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_NBA_championship_head_coaches
Not sure I understand the question. Do you mean give Giannis to Stotts and Dame to Bud? Give Stotts Giannis AND Dame to work with?
Stotts coached teams have often overachieved in playoffs, winning 3 playoff series without HCA. Meanwhile, Bud's teams underachieve in playoffs LOSING 2 (maybe 3) playoff series WITH HCA. I'll take Stotts over Bud any day of the week. Stotts is Jerry Sloan. Bud is George Karl.
I actually consider Stotts to be one of the best of the bunch. To me. playoff WINS are hard to come by and he has 21. Only 8 of the other 15 coaches have won more.
I'd like Dame to get a shot as the #1 seed. He's never been close to that. It would also be nice to get HCA early and rest a bit instead of being driven into the ground. After that, I'll take my chances.
Your standard seems extremely subjective & influenced by your personal bias. #8 out of 15 puts him at 53%. At best, that puts him mediocre... But we should look at winning percentage (as long as the sample size is large enough - hence why I said of the coaches with >30 playoff games). A larger sample size helps normalize for variables such as HCA. Stotts doesn't perform very well by the winning percentage metric. He's on par with Nate McMillan - who we can hopefully agree is mediocre at best.
it's insane that portland is even mentioned in these convos. all credit to dame. i'd trade our whole team but dame for him. even with the risk of him walking in FA the year after
