Let me see if I get this right.

The guy that mailed his ballot is railing against mail-in-ballots because his opponent went to vote in person, instead of mailing his ballot.

    Hungry hungry hypocrite

All he has to do is give the smallest amount of validation to people believing in him, so they can justify to themselves why they are voting for someone they know is racist, misogynistic, bigoted and elitist.

White privilege is a powerful drug....I think Trump's fans are more fueled by the thought of losing a grip on that false sense of superiority then anything else about the guy.

A friend of mine once said (and I'm not sure I agree with it), there is a significant portion of Trumps base that is afraid of losing their place in the world as a white person, and also a portion of his base that wishes they were white and in power.

I think for some conservative minorities they see Trump as a way to get powerful positions in his cabinet just by cheering for him...and the attraction to the money surrounding that is another drug...he'll virtually make any yes man an ambassador or head of a dept in his cabinet whether they have one skill or not...all that is required is blind loyalty..mags could be the secretary of state if he applied just because of his enthusiasm for the guy and his loyalty to that agenda

that reminds me....it was probably 30-40 years ago that Mad Magazine, one month, did their usual in a parody of Scientific American. They called it Scienterrific American. It was hilarious. That's about all I remember though, but I though MM was usually hilarious. The thing about it was that MM usually only skewered American institutions, so that tells you that SA was an American institution 40 years ago....and that hasn't changed

it's too bad that MM shut down last fall; it was/is an American institution itself

trump's town hall last night: "a firehose of lying" says CNN's fact-checker

    * "DON LEMON: Daniel, let me bring you in because you've been busy fact checking this Town Hall. What stood out to you?
DANIEL DALE: There was just so much lying, Don. I'm going to go quickly.

    * He said, again, Democrats won't protect people with pre-existing conditions. That's nonsense, as a voter told him, Democrats created those protections.

    * He insisted he didn't praise China on the virus. He did so repeatedly. We know that. He claimed nobody knew at the time he was praising China, that seniors were especially susceptible to the virus. That's one of the first things we learned out of China, Italy, and the US.

    * He claimed Biden said in March the pandemic was, quotes, totally overexaggerated. I can find no evidence Biden ever said that.

    * He said Winston Churchill was kind of like him, playing down stuff because he went on rooftops in the bombing and said everything is going to be good. Churchill did not stand on the rooftops and warn everything was going to be good.

    * He said protesters took over 20% of Seattle. He took credit for sending in the National Guard in Minneapolis saying this happened after a week and a half of violence there. It was not even close to a week and a half. It was days and the Democratic governor is the one who activated the Guard.

    * He said he essentially repealed Obamacare by getting rid of individual mandate, not even close to true with the Medicaid expansion, pre-existing conditions expansion, other stuff remains.

    * His administration admits he inherited about 16,000 ventilators from Obama.

    * He did his usual false boast about so-called bans on travel from China and Europe. They were not complete bans.

    * He said stocks are owned by, quote, everybody. Just about half of Americans own stocks.

    * He repeated his nonsense about testing causing cases, testing merely reveals and helps fight cases.

    * He said that Biden has agreed to a Bernie Sanders style of socialized health care. He fought Sanders on that issue. He has very much not agreed to a Sanders-style plan.

And, Don, this is a preliminary list. I have hours of fact checking tonight to do because there's even more than this. So this was just a firehose of lying, again, from the president.

DON LEMON: Do you need a drink of water?

DALE: Yeah. I think i'm -- my camera here, I apologize to the viewers.

LEMON: It was just, what, an hour, hour and a half town hall and -- yes, like, every -- like every -- oh, my gosh.

DALE: Every other line was false or misleading. It was crazy
    ." *

the video is pretty funny, in an apocalyptic way

I read my first Mad Magazine in about 1956. I remember a paper record in one issue of the song She Got a Nose Job.

    https://www.thedailyscrum.ca/2020/0...in-to-canadas-deputy-prime-minister-freeland/

US President Trump caved once again to Canada’s retaliatory measures issued by Deputy Prime Minister, Chrystia Freeland on certain tariffs of aluminum products from Canada. The Trump administration was forced to lift tariffs on Canadian aluminum due to sustained pressure from Republicans who are being decimated in the polls.

“The August 6th announcement by the United States to impose tariffs on certain Canadian aluminum products, citing national security concerns, is unwarranted and unacceptable”. Said Deputy Prime Minister, Chrystia Freeland

Canada and the US have always been allies so the narrative of Canadians posing a national threat to the America was a false narrative used to distract Americans. This tactic of distracting Americans and undermining their intelligence has become a text book procedure used by the embattled reality show president when he is asked to address unfavorable news about his administration.

Trump lifts aluminum tariffs: caves once again to Canada's Deputy Prime Minister Freeland
Trump’s decision to lift the tariffs on Canadian aluminium was because he was facing a revolt from Red State corporations that depend on Canadian aluminum. Trump ultimately caved knowing that any additional loss of employment in Republican States will hurt him at the polling stations come November.

Then there is the Freeland Factor! Trump under estimated Canada’s Deputy Prime Minister for being one of his spineless yes men. The great deal maker has been brow beaten time and time again into submission by Freeland.

Canada’s Deputy Prime Minister has successfully negotiated the best deal for the country beginning with the new NAFTA deal. She has not been afraid slap Trump with retaliatory sanctions in due kind on tariffs imposed to Canada.

    Tariffs because.......tariffs!
