I should know better than to tell anyone my favorite getaways....I know that it leads to making them not a favorite getaway down the road
Probably not the place for a city slicker like @EL PRESIDENTE , but Coeur d'Alene seems like a cool place.
I would move to Vegas. Probably Summerlin. The pandemic has fucked things up there pretty bad though.
I spent a night in Rapid City SD 3 years ago, and while I didn’t get to see a great deal of the city (what there was of it) it looked like it was an up and coming little burg in an absolute beautiful setting. I’d like to have spent more time there. But I imagine winters get pretty cold there......
I used to travel Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota and Minnesota selling restaurant equipment for a while after the war...Sioux City is in 3 different states and was a beautiful small city...lot of college brewery pubs...Yankton South Dakota was fun back then....those were good times for a short while before I came back out west.
My maternal grandmother was born and raised in Deadwood....half Lakota, half French Canadian lady...I've spent alot of time in that part of the country having grown up in western Iowa
My wife wants to move before we have kids (in a few years). We don't want to live in Florida but she has family in Tampa so we want to be closer to them. Maybe Nashville cause I have family there. Austin might be better for me though. Also have family in Athens, Georgia but I don't think that's a good option. I've never lived anywhere other than Tualatin, Tigard, and Wilsonville so really anywhere we move is gonna be a big change for me!
Austin is a great choice. It's kinda similar to Portland with all the random areas for food trucks, etc. Live music capital. It's probably gonna get more expensive though as people flee California
