Ugh....<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Thomas traded to SeattleTeam also re-signs MarksPaul CoroThe Arizona RepublicJul. 20, 2007 09:01 AMThe Suns traded center Kurt Thomas this morning in a move that relieves some salary-cap pressure.Thomas goes to the Seattle SuperSonics, along with the Suns' own 2008 and 2010 first-round draft picks in exchange for a future conditional 2nd round pick and a trade exception, worth about $8 million. The league's new luxury tax threshold -- the number at which teams would begin to be taxed -- came in different from what the Suns expected, at $67.9 million, and would have left Phoenix more than $10 million over that number. The Suns also re-signed Sean Marks. If draft picks Alando Tucker and D.J. Strawberry make the team, that would leave Phoenix with one roster position open. They will be looking to fill it with a free-agent front-line player.</div>And we give up our 1st rounders for 2 years also?   If we don't get PJ Brown at least, we will have no chance at all of winning anything in the Nash era. This is a terrible, terrible trade. If we go up against the Spurs I wouldn't be surprised if they beat us in 5 now if we don't replace him with anyone good.

If Sonics end up buying him out, good chance we see a Western team pick him up and make this even better for Suns. :happy0144: This cost cutting mentality hurts the Suns.

Man, trading all these draft picks is severly hurting the Suns depth, now and in the future. Two first rounders? Yikes. :no1:

What is with the Suns? They don't seem to like having draft picks...I understand they wanted to get rid of his contract, but come on....this is just too much. Good trade for the Sonics...although they are loaded at the PF/C positions with average players. They need to get rid of some guys...like maybe Robert Swift, Wilcox and/or Nick Collison.

Wow, cheap asses. You give away 2 first rounders, plus KT and get what a second rounder back in return just wow. How many effin good pieces are Phoenix going to pass up on, are they seriously that cheap? Or maybe they're clearing room for KG next summer but idk or care, giving two picks is crazy.

This is a terrible trade, financial move or not.Phoenix's future drafting: no 1st rounder in 2008, 1st rounder in 2009 and no 1st rounder in 2010..so basically once Nash is getting ready to retire they won't have any draft picks.

Well we will have Atlanta's next year, but I still hate this trade. It's a lot of picks just to get rid of KT. They should've waited until mid-season to see if they could've gotten rid of him easier.

I'm not as worried about this as some Suns fans are. The Suns still have one of the best teams in the league, Thomas leaving doesn't change that. I really love how people call them cheap when they will still be over the LT even with this trade. People act like they have a spare $8m to throw on a player that will likely be injured the majority of the season.

Robert Sarver is a hybrid owner. He is arrogant like Mark Cuban, cheap like Donald Sterling and is entrenched in team affairs like George Steinbrenner :no1:

We have no chance at all at beating the Spurs right now. We'll be okay if we go up against the Mavs because KT never even played against them, but we have no depth in the front court. Amare is our only player that should be playing in the PF/C spot and that's not good. They NEED PJ Brown right now. Also, giving up 2 first rounders to save money again is just very stupid.

I have to agree, stupid trade for Phoenix. Thomas' contract is expiring at the end of this season anyway, this wasn't worth the picks.

I like this trade for the suns because now they do not have someone who can slow down Tim Duncan. In the conf. semis Kurt Thomas was the only person keeping Tim Duncan from scoring 30 ppg in that series.

It's always good in this league to stock on bigs, especially ones who can d up.
