    The Trump campaign is reportedly 'discussing contingency plans to bypass election results'

    President Trump's campaign is discussing "contingency plans" that would involve bypassing the result of November's election, reports The Atlantic.

    The report delves into possible scenarios if Trump apparently loses the 2020 presidential election but doesn't concede, noting that although we're used to electors being selected based on the popular vote, "nothing in the Constitution says it has to be that way." Citing Republican Party sources, The Atlantic says that Trump's campaign is "discussing contingency plans to bypass election results and appoint loyal electors in battleground states where Republicans hold the legislative majority."

    The campaign would reportedly assert that this step was necessary due to claims of supposed voter fraud, which experts have noted is extraordinarily rare, ahead of the "safe harbor" deadline to appoint 538 electors on Dec. 8.

    "Trump would ask state legislators to set aside the popular vote and exercise their power to choose a slate of electors directly," The Atlantic reports. "The longer Trump succeeds in keeping the vote count in doubt, the more pressure legislators will feel to act before the safe-harbor deadline expires."

    A Trump campaign legal adviser who spoke to The Atlantic said that in this scenario, "the state legislatures will say, 'All right, we've been given this constitutional power. We don't think the results of our own state are accurate, so here's our slate of electors that we think properly reflect the results of our state." Lawrence Tabas, chair of the Pennsylvania Republican Party, also told The Atlantic he has discussed the direct appointment of electors with the Trump campaign, saying, "I've mentioned it to them, and I hope they're thinking about it too." The Trump campaign saidit is "fighting for a free and fair election."

    the reason that fucking bastard is considering being a massive fucking bastard is because just about every damn elected republican is a an immoral slimy corrupt piece of shit that gives trump cover for pulling stunts like this

    the R's are an enemy of american democracy....they simply don't give a shit about the country, only their power. If you wait for any reactions to this news from republicans condemning this unconstitutional strategy, you'll be waiting a damn long time. And this is why the R's are in such a rush to get another judge on the SC...they are hoping that judge will give them the SC votes to essentially kill our democracy. Biden could win 400 electoral votes and the general election by 60% to 40% and trump and the R's will still try to ignore the results.

    Not going to happen, his wife and kid will have the final say and he will leave without military escorts.
    I work for a fortune 500 Corporation that police escorted employees out if they were laid off or fired. I watched them escort a 40 year company man out rather than let him retire on his own terms.

    The scary thing is I can see that happening. And for some reason a lot of republicans are ok with it. If the Dems did this how would the republicans react?

    If Trump does this, he is committing treason and there will be chaos at levels we have never seen. He might not give the people much choice.

    The Declaration of Independence cites the duty of the people should something like this happen...

    'whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute a new government, laying its foundation on such principles, and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness. '

    'But, when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.'

    It also lists the many "injuries" and "usurpations" of King George of England that was the cause for our new nation. Do some of these sound familiar?

    He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.
