Re: Best Celtic PG's of all time was thinking about how it's been such a maglined posistion for the team since the 80's and how everyone is hopeful that Rondo is the answer. In your opinon, who are the top PG's this team has had in it's storied tradition?1. Bob Cousy - no doubt he's a top 5 PG of all time2. Dennis Johnson - great all around PG and underated defender3. Tiny Archibald - didn't have his best years with the C's but he's still a great player4. Jo-Jo White - more of a shoot first guard but he did have some good assist years too.5. ?? Kenny Anderson? Sherman Douglas? is there a 5th best PG?
Re: Best Celtic PG's of all time Cousy is no doubt #1. There's really no debating this.DJ and Tiny Archibald are very close to each other for 2nd place. The edge goes to DJ though, mainly because Archibald wasn't in his prime with the Celtics. That's not to say that Nate still wasn't a great player, but DJ could beat you in so many ways when he was with the Celtics. He was such an intelligent player and a great passer. His defense is really what stands out though, especially in the playoffs. Bird was obviously the face of the franchise, but DJ was just as important in our two title runs during his time with the team. Even Larry Bird says that DJ is the best player he ever played with.Jo-Jo White also can't be forgotten. He's easily #4 on this list, although he's not exactly a pure point guard. Neither was DJ when he came to Boston, but he easily fit the role. Jo-Jo is definitely the greater Celtic than Tiny Archibald, but not strictly as a PG.
