I get what you’re saying but how did having over 3 million more popular votes than Trump help Hillary out in 2016? It just sends the message that the US electoral system is all fucked up and needs to be fixed. And that liberals and moderates in the swing states need to get off their whiny asses and actually vote. It’s about electoral votes, not the popular vote......I am one of those who told you it doesn’t really matter in Oregon who we vote for because it is guaranteed to go blue. That said, I will now vote for Biden if for no other reason than it’s a sharp stick in Trump’s Covid infested eye......

    This statement answers this question...
Even more so if he wins by 10-15 million and the race is still close. It's time for the lines to be corrected at least?

I understand that, but in the end the reason Trump won is because of lower voter turnout mostly due to people of certain demographics not caring enough to actually bother to vote...Trump's base did, and they will again this November...and if the same people who didn't vote in 2016 again don't grasp the sense of urgency and vote next month, the electoral vote and the end result could very well be the same.

And like I also said, it's not just the POTUS vote at stake...state and local offices are nearly as important.

.state and local offices are nearly as important. they are more important after this year's census. undoing the gerrymandering of districts that republican state governments controlled after the last one. true voter suppression and the notion that all votes are of equal value in elections..

I could see the Republicans against Trump making their party over and actually calling it the Lincoln Party, distancing themselves from the current GOP culture...would probably draw a lot of members who've had it with divorce court politics

State and local offices may be critical but they don't hold a candle to the race for President.

Is there a more compelling argument ANYWHERE? This is the former director of the CIA under George Bush.

Please people get your head on straight!

This is fundamentally incorrect. The decisions that effect your daily lives are controlled on the local level at a much higher degree. The President is the most visible yes but things like if you can use paper or plastic bags and taxes on your roads or schools are all about the local level.

and those local elections, in the context of redistricting/gerrymandering at the state level following the census will impact federal representation in the congress as well as state legislatures. remember it is the control of the state legislatures that have challenged the state executive branches during covid. this will also impact legislation and cases that states will bring before SCOTUS. hugely important, IMHO. the AG's of republican controlled states are the one's that brought the law suits trying to overturn/eliminate the ACA. those state legislatures are responsible for the laws governing elections and who gets to vote even in federal elections and how much weight it carries in relation to those included in the districts borders.. this is a form of voter suppresion that allows minority rule over the majority of citizens.

Tell me this Ironman, if state and local offices are so important why do you write about the President so much and not about state and local offices?
No, the President determines life and death issues. People are dying because of him and a lot more will die when he erases Obama Care.

People are dying because he is an idiot and they are following him.
The State issues the mandate on phase progression. The State is who fights for or against right to work. The State establishes your taxes and the State system of higher education runs your schools. Federal government issues are indeed very important but the one’s that effect your day to day life are decided here locally.
    Vote!
