not what i questioned. not my being right or wrong nor you, but where this fits in your anti abortion/pro life position?
If found to be directly related to abortions, I won't vote for Trump. If true, we shall see how he fits in the equation.
not really about trump, but about you. i personally am opposed to the use of fetal tissue, but some of the newer harvesting methods of embryonic stem cells no longer destroy the embryo. the use of the HEK 293 tissue would be wrong IMHO now that other methods for their harvest are available. the development of this particular antiviral utilized the older tissues from the aborted fetus. i can be opposed yet understand that its value in saving other lives has worth. i would personally choose to decline this treatment option, though not force others to choose my preferred option. what is done is done.
You forgot to add: Getting injected with lifesaving drugs derived from fetal tissue, but 100% for controlling a woman's body. On the taxpayer's dime no less (because you are totally opposed to socialized healthcare, unless it is for you).
Getting injected with the drug only applies to Trump. If anyone else received it we'd hear about the fertilized egg.
I'm still looking into this. So, the stem cells in question are from decades-old abortions? https://www.newsweek.com/anti-abort...-vaccines-may-use-cells-human-fetuses-1509573 ....Arthur Caplan, professor of bioethics at the NYU School of Medicine, told Science: "If you are going to say the government shouldn't fund things that a minority of people object to, you will have a very long list of things that won't get funded by the government, from research on weapons of war to contraceptive research." Caplan also said: "There are better ways to win the abortion wars than telling people not to use a vaccine. These are long-over abortions. These cells are decades old, and even major religious leaders like the pope have acknowledged that for the greater good it's not worth the symbolism to put the community at risk." I have used hek cells extensively in both school and at work. they're what we call immortalized. If people are freaked out by this stuff, wait til you tell em that insulin that people inject to counter diabetes used to be made from pigs.
yes, to the greater good, no to the personal ethics. again i would decline the treatment. 1 The Catholic Church's position on the use of HEK293 cells, or other cell lines generated from elective abortions, in medical research is that they should be avoided because other-wise this creates a "contradiction in the attitude of the [researcher] who says that he does not approve of the injustice perpetrated by others, but at the same time accepts for his own work the 'biological material' which the others have obtained by means of that injustice" (Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith 2008, no. ... https://www.researchgate.net/publication/6704828_The_ethics_of_HEK_293
293 cells are derived from an aborted fetus' kidney from the Netherlands back in the 70s. They've been heavily cultured and ubiquitous. Every biotech/pharma/uni will have hundreds of labs using these cuz they offer a lot of benefits to study a variety of stuff. Think you'd be surprised how many of these kinds of things people use in research if this is news to you.
I've been aware of it. I know that Planned Parenthood associates were illegally recorded by an anti-abortion activist. Nonetheless, what they said was what they said.
Let'a discuss late stage abortion and Joe Biden: "During the Republican National Convention, President Donald Trump said Democrats and Joe Biden, the Democratic presidential nominee, support late-term abortions right up until the moment of birth. Trump might have been referring a bill proposed last year by Democrats in the Virginia legislature, which was unsuccessful. The bill sought to make it easier for women to obtain abortions late in pregnancy if the mother's physical health or safety were at risk. The proposed legislation prompted Senator Ted Cruz, a Republican from Texas, to falsely claim that Democrats support abortion up until the moment of birth. Many other Republicans, including Vice President Mike Pence, have echoed the claim." This from a fact check at: https://www.logically.ai/factchecks/library/ebf60ef5
