    Whitey Ford, still up there with me as a favorite Yankee pitcher. Stengle held out Ford to face the best in the AL. Ford and Billy Pierce had some classic duels. Great in the World Series. RIP sir you were right there with the best of Yankee greats!!!!!

    Hearing of his death brought me back to his classic duels with another great, Billy Pierce. Talk about
    superior pitching. “Whitey” excelled in World Series games. He was not called ‘Chairman of the Board’
    for nothing! Sir, R.I.P. I know you’re still mow’in ‘em down up there. I am sure of it!
