yeah, I know human evolution seems counter-intuitive as we watch trump and his base leave no rock un-turned in their mad race to non-intelligence.....

but apparently, we are adding arteries and losing wisdom teeth:

    https://www.oregonlive.com/news/202...tional-artery-in-arm-and-no-wisdom-teeth.html

    and:

    https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/joa.13224

the drawback to this, for lengthy guys like me, is that shorter-jawed women would limit my love life, if you know what I mean....(insert endless jokes here)

Makes sense to me...the appendix is gradually disappearing over years of evolution and I'm sure there are other instances.

As to your concern about "short jawed" women, does that mean that one day all females will have overbites?...oh, the humanity, glad I won't be around.

I sure hope so, but there is a contingency amongst humans that I think is moving the opposite direction....probably from inbreeding or Neanderthal dna! Problem is intellectually we seem to progress but emotionally we can be pretty barbaric

Of course we are evolving. All species are.

Link? That is biology 101. Species aren't static. Some, like viruses and bacteria, with short generation times, evolve so rapidly we can see it. Others, with low reproduction and long generation, take longer.

The one constant in the universe is change.

Pretty sure my children and grandchildren are smarter and better looking than I ever was so that's a good sign.

I'm proof that dogs are evolving faster than cats.

Yes, they're adapting to their lives as suck-ups to humans. Most are becoming wiener dogs.

I've read that there's considerable discussion about how the rise of human technology and agriculture has disrupted the typical stressors of nature so that we aren't evolving through natural selection nearly as much as in early human history.

That's only because cats move faster and quieter than dogs can sense.....probably one running around your tail right this moment

Correct. Dogs and wolves are so genetically close they can interbreed. But when dogs were domesticated, they were selected for docility and obedience. In consequence their jaws became smaller and they lost intelligence. Wolves regularly beat dogs in tests of intelligence.

Cats, although domesticated, retain most of their wild instincts and are much closer in intelligence and appearance to their wild counterparts.
