in my tinfoil-hat brain, I've always been suspicious of trump's trade war with China because it was so obviously going to be an advantage for China. Maybe a slush fund in China and some back door deals explain why trump would fuck over American farmers and factories with tariffs while Chinese interests expanded market shares

Weird how so many of the things that Trump (or his sycophants) blames others for, he ends up doing it himself.

It will be interesting if there is the same interest/vetting/vitriol here over the stuff coming out about Hunter Biden and on things his father said he knew nothing about that now emails and texts are showing that he did. So many millions of dollars for Hunter from Russia, China, Ukraine....and yet not many questions.

Just wondering where the balance or objectivity is.

and you're objective?

seems you're already assuming the emails are authentic when there seems to be some very real questions about the authenticity, including PDF files on the computer that are dated after the laptops were allegedly dropped off at the store
 
maybe I just haven't paid sufficient attention to this Hunter Biden/laptop story so I'll kind of summarize what I know and the posters here certain it's a scandal can disabuse me of my false assumptions:

Hunter Biden is living in California. Somehow, while in Delaware, he gets 3 laptops wet and drops them off at a corner computer repair shop with an owner who is legally blind.

Biden then forgets not only that he left the laptops there, but that there are emails on those laptops incriminating him in child pornography and international corruption. Also, that there emails there incriminating his father who is running for President.

he simply forgets about the laptops and never returns to the shop to collect his property

and somehow, at the last minute of an election, the emails are publicized. But there are substantial questions about the authenticity of the emails. And the whole story looks extremely similar to a tried-and true Russian disinformation frame-up operation. In fact, it looks almost exactly like what Russia tried to do in the French election in 2017 (google it you might be surprised)

what seems more credible: that Hunter Biden is a total blithering stupid fucking idiot or that this is another russian dirty trick using trump stooges as the conduit?

Interesting since there is no where I assumed anything. Also interesting that I was just wondering if the same investigative/questions/assumptions would be applied on both sides. Guess I got my answer. Instead of addressing the original question, I was questioned personally. Perhaps I shouldn't be surprised.

so I simply asked why you were assuming those emails were authentic, which your words show you are, and if that assumption meant you weren't objective either, which is what you accused others of not being. That's especially true considering there is apparently plenty of reason to question the authenticity of those emails you claim show Biden knew things and is apparently lying about what he knew

I don't know what the truth is here

all I know is that apparently the FBI has had this 'evidence' for 10 months and hasn't been able to determine the provenance of the laptops and the data on them.

I can make some assumptions though: the first is that the white house has known for a while that the FBI has that digital data and have been investigating it. The second is the white house has known for a while there is no concrete evidence those emails are authentic, and there would be none before the election. And the third is that they decided to 'release' the rumors as an October surprise knowing that there would not be enough time to prove or disprove any of it prior to the election. Mud meet wall. It was a smear tactic based upon a string of dubious circumstances that have striking similarities to past Russian disinformation operations.

Well, I've been too busy contemplating the QAnon theories, while giving equal time to the Flat Earth theories and the Clinton Hit List and the pesky Illuminati (of course)...

The e-mails (which are in textual format) show nothing but gossip. They are not worth a plug nickel and anyone who falls for them knows nothing about how e-mails are transmitted on the Web and is particularly gullible.

Not to mention stupid for people believing that they are confirmed real. This subject is for dumb people who not only know nothing about how e-mails have headers but don't even have the curiosity to ask those with the technical know how what the hell is going on.

Not to answer for TBpup, but there seems to be at least some reason to believe that the primary email quoted by the NY Post is authentic. The recipient, Tony Bobulinski was quoted yesterday as saying it was "genuine". He's been asked by the FBI to sit down for an interview with them today.

Am I buying the whole story? No, not yet. Do I think that there's reason to question Joe's "nothing to see here" attitude? Yup. Ah, finally a response that at least entains an open mind. I appreciate the attacks and character assinations for simply asking a question. And no, it's not playing the victim, because I don't feel like one at all. Instead, just what happened. Ammusing if nothing else. :cheers:

and by the way...about the "simply asking a question" stuff. There are simple questions and loaded ones, and yours was loaded. I mean, I simply asked a question too when I asked if you were objective
