Let's talk about one of the type of players that are very often forgotten- hustle players. The guys that have made a living throughout history in the NBA on playing defense. Who are some of the best of all-time and some of your favorites? Currently, people know and love Bruce Bowen, but back in the day you had Michael Cooper, Kurt Rambis among others.
I used to watch the Knicks a lot back when I was really young so I am going to mention Oakley. Always diving on the floor for loose balls, very good rebounder...one of the top hustle players.
Jerome Williams needs to mentioned. They called him the Junk yard dog for a reason. The dude had hardly any offensive skill at all. He just went out and got garbage points, alot of rebounds on both ends, and easy tip ins and such.Anderson Varejao is the perfect hustle player in today's NBA.
He definitely isn't forgotten, but Dennis Rodman should be mentioned in this thread by now.Dave Cowens was a very talented and high-profile scorer, but he hustled his ass all the time, diving on the floor for loose balls, etc. Larry Bird was the same way.
Sydney Moncreif, Jerry Sloan, Mark Eaton, Dave DeBusschere, Buck Williams, Derek Harper, Dan Majerle there are just a few guys who should be mentioned.

I would venture to say that this guy was Garnett before Garnett in terms of the rebounding numbers he put up in the first half of his career. If I were to make a top 10 list of power forwards, he would definitely go up there.
While he had many off-court issues, Alvin Robertson is probably one of the best scrappy players to ever play in the league, a tough defensive minded guard brought a strong perimeter defense to the Spurs.
don't forget his unique quadruple double of double digit points, rebounds, assists and STEALS.only player to have a quad with steals rather than blocks..

I should have grabbed him. I had him picked, but then I changed to:Bobby Jones (and Sam Cassell)Also add Larry Bird to that list. His defense wasn't the best, but his hustling was top notch.Wolverine, it's Laimbeer.
