Outside of the Ray Allen trade, all the hype is dead, Kevin Garnett is not going anywhere, Jermaine O'Neal is not going anywhere, Kobe Bryant is not going anywhere, Shawn Marion is not going anywhere....etc...I figured going in that a couple big names would be moved, but a majority of it all was just talk/hype. Right now, that looks accurate.
After a stellar draft trade the off-season has been very boring. Free Agency has been pretty good but rumors have completely died and it's clear that these superstars will remain on their respective teams. However, this off-season has still been nearly 5x better than the one last year. Hopefully, there will be at least 2-3 more trades involving decent role-players this off-season.I think everyone just wants a repeat of the 2004 off-season.
Just like all the other offseasons. Hype and nothing to follow through. I'm sure ESPN loved all the rumors this offseason
Randolph, Allen, Lewis, and Richardson all were moved. That's far more active than most off-seasons. And part of the reason things are stagnant right now is because most teams can't trade their rookies for another week or so (you can't trade them within 30 days of signing them) so I wouldn't be shocked if GSW or the sonics made another splashy deal at this point with their trade exceptions.
This offseason was a bit over hyped, but it's much better than last offseason.. and as pestilence said, Allen, Lewis, Randolph, and Richardson have all been moved.
It has been a good and active offseason but people were expecting wayy to much. Next offseason should be better with KG and Arenas as FA even though Gilbert is going to resign right back with Washington.
I think that even with Allen, Richardson, Randolph, and Lewis getting traded, it was all pretty overblown. At best those trades bump the teams up a little bit or give some fresh talent. None of the teams are going to become elite because of the trades (imo). Most of the trades being talked about were like, "THIS TRADE WOULD MAKE THE LAKERS A CONTENDER" or "MARION WANTS OUT SO BAD, THIS WILL MAKE THE SUNS A CHAMPION." The offseason was over-blown in that sense. I've been saying basically this whole time that KG and Kobe weren't going to be moved... they're just too hard to get equal value for.
Yeah it was boring. I tried not to get any hopes up, but hey, there still is time for something to happen.
BCB was right on at the start of the off-season. Too much hype, nothing other than the four moves listed to back it up.

Like another poster said, everybody wants another 2004-like offseason and they want both Kobe and Garnett traded this week. Big names have moved, the free agents have come and gone quickly, and let's not forget that we're only one month beyond the draft. It's only late July, I bet something else fairly decent happens. And if not, like Pesty said, it has still been more active than the average offseason.
The offseason still aint over, its just the end of july. I wouldnt say the offseason is over just yet.

All they care about is Mike Vicks dog fighting, whos now, and Barry Bonds chase for aaron. But yall are crazy to say this offseason has been over blown. With crazy moves like Travis Diener to the Pacers, Jason Kapono to the Raptors, and lets not forget Maceo Baston signing with the raptors, there has never been a dull moment this off-season. And if Brandon Bass were to sign with the Mavs, this would be one of the most exciting off-seasons since 1998 when Luc Longley was involved in a sign and trade to the Phoenix Suns.
