all nba players received full wages through may first and only 25% of their remaining salaries was withheld from may 15 on and that sum was placed in escrow fund. those players received those salaries irregardless of whether their teams participated in the bubble or not. considering that 3/4 of the season had already been completed when games were put on hold their financial hardship from lost wages were much less than not having a paycheck in 8 months. they paid 10% on their previous wages in the 2019-2020 season
Sure but it was 8 games and their was 26.7% that were not there including a number who opted out. Then after the first round that number went up. Of course most of those series were 4-5 games. I could see players being ready to get back on the court.
I think it would/will be interesting to see how having free agency BEFORE the draft may change how teams make their plans
I read somewhere that every team would have to play 14 back-2-backs. That's a lot. When will the regular season end?
If the players union doesn't want to start until January, it's a sign that they're in grief. Call it "collective denial" to go along with their "collective bargaining".
I see your point, but the number of games was not what I was responding to, it was the claim that over half the league hadn't played in 8 months. I think some players will certainly be ready, some may not. All this is abnormal.
Considering they had over 4 months off from mid-March until the restart, they would have been nuts to push it back later. The NBA owns Christmas Day for sports fans. I have it on all day. Giving that up would be stupid. It’s as good a reboot as they can get. Let’s see if TV viewers agree. I have my doubts The League ever gets back to the levels it had 5-10 years ago in the USA, but China loves the NBA and Europe does too. It’s the basketball equivalent of UEFA Champions League l, yet contained solely in the USA.
