Or be a post threat. Or a playmaker. He was none of those things. Made it real easy for teams to ignore him and throw an extra body at Dame/CJ.

Yeh, he is younger. EFG% about the same. Milsap shot the lights out from three last year but over the last four years Green has shot quite a bit better. Green better rebounder as measured by rebounds per 36 and TRB %. You would think he would be more mobile as a defender, maybe Milsap smarter.

Guess you missed the part where Utah gave two future seconds to get off his contract. Taking him into the TPE doesn't hamper our ability to use the full MLE and the BAE afterwards.

It’s still a waste of a roster spot.

Versus what? We have 6 spots available. Unless you think they're going to get 6 quality players, having a guy who knows the system, is a veteran with experience, and is liked by the entire team is not a negative.

Under different circumstances I would be supportive of re-signing Gabriel and Hoard. The problem is we have 3 guys (rookie CJ, Simons, Little) who are unlikely to contribute and 2 others (Collins, Nurk) with worrisome injury histories. That leaves us with a potential for SEVEN dead spots on a 15 man roster! That seems like a huge risk.

Why would I care about his experience, or his system knowledge when I don’t think he’s a fit for the team on the court? Yeah we have six spots, but that could get cut in half just by bringing back Wenyen, and signing whoever with the MLE and the BAE. Then you’ve still got Rodney, who knows what the plan is there, he could easily be getting a multi year deal from Portland. And I could probably come up with a long list of minimum contract type players I’d give a roster spot to before Davis. Shit, I’d probably take Meyers over him, and I can’t stand Meyers.

Because not every player is going to be part of the rotation, duh? The trade would be an asset play, I could give two fucks if he ever steps onto the floor. But to act like players never get signed to sit on the bench and provide leadership is dumb. Teams do this all the time, we even did so last year by signing Gasol. Udonis Haslem is still in the league. And we would get two seconds out of it, which is basically Neil's favorite trade asset.

They, in theory, traded him for divincenzo and salary filler. Would you move simons and, say, a Whiteside S&T?

Probably better to give the annual Stauskas/Hezonja contract to Thon Maker and hope he develops an Ed Davis kind of mentality and continues to work on his game. There will be other opportunities to bring in someone who will actually help with the TPE.

That’s a 100% no, SAC is probably looking to offload bigs, not bring in more.

I was just going off of their previous rumored deal, where they took on salary filler and DiVincenzo. Ilyasova was part of that deal. I don't think the deal is about Whiteside for them, it's about getting a prospect in return for Bogdanovic.

Can you combine players in a sign and trade (for the team signing and trading the FA)? I don't think you can.

asset play? Portland is not in collection mode anymore. Thought the trading of their first round picks the next two seasons would’ve made that clear.

And Olshey didn’t sign Gasol to sit on the bench. He was gonna be Whitesides backup.

Why are you acting like seconds can't be used to improve the team?

How did we get the Bazemore TPE? Oh thats right, 2 seconds. How did we get Covington? Oh that's right, we got Ariza as part of the Bazemore deal.

How did we get Trent? Oh that's right, we traded 2 seconds.

If there is one thing Olshey is good at, it's playing around the margins using second round picks. And we owe like 5 of them as of now.

Another possible indication Bjelica is n the market, what's out offer using the TPE?

Also in Windhorst’s latest Hoop Collective podcast, he and colleague Zach Lowe identified the Kings and Magic as two teams that may be looking to get a little younger this offseason rather than being content with competing again for the No. 8 seed. Nemanja Bjelica was identified by Lowe as a possible trade candidate to watch in Sacramento, while Windhorst added that Orlando would likely be open to moving Evan Fournier.

I think he became available when Harden started thinking he wanted out?

I think he became available when the Rockets owner is losing all his wealth from Covid.

Yeah. I heard also that the players want out because of political affiliations. Kind of like he might have screwed up a few too many times. The China issue ain't helping either.
