I could probably come up with a list of at least 5 free agent centers I’d take over Whiteside and I don’t even hate Whiteside. I just don’t think he’s a fit as a backup at all. He’s clearly a guy that’s better when given a larger role.
Last year crowder shot 34.4% from 3. Career he has shot 34.0% from 3. I think 34% is a baseline that teams will be using to gauge his effectiveness. Nobody thinks he's become a 40%+ 3 point shooter because the last 20 games he shot 44.5% I'd be very happy to sign Crowder. Even if we have to overpay a bit. Now is the time to go all in!
Harkless for near minimum/BAE > Crowder for MLE. for the record we shouldn’t be targeting either one imo.
In three hours so much shit is going to hit so many fans. Woj's twitter will melt down. The people in the NBA front office will be running around like chickens with their heads off. It's going to be great. I will be so disappointed if there are no Blazers announcements today.
I love it when a 6"10" Christian Wood that goes un-drafted and has been in the league 4 year? is going to get a payday.
I wonder of Woj/Shams/etc are just sitting on a bunch of agreements because leaking em now could get their sources in trouble, or if their phones actually just blow up the second free agency opens. I’m going with A because there’s almost always multiple tweets when the clock hits.
in the past, the 5 to 8 days before the moratorium ends in July are filled with news of teams and players reaching agreements. This is an unprecedented time
...speaking of which, apologies if already covered here or elsewhere, did the Bogdan deal get backtracked simply because it leaked and their excuse out of trouble was to claim player didn't agree or does he really want to go somewhere else?
A lot of chatter about Christian Wood. In the following, at varying times, was matched up against Embiid, Horford, and Harris. Wood went on a stretch the last 26 games of the season that was well, why he is going to get paid. 18.2 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 1.0 bpg, 0.8 spg on .563 shooting from the field and .404 from '3' in ~28 mpg. Only once during that stretch did he have over 4 PFs and and only five times did he have over 3 PF's. He +/- was a total of +36 over that stretch for a bad Pistons team. Pistons were 6-21 over that stretch. The season prior for his stint with NOP, avg'd 1.6.9/7/9 Career .368 shooter from '3'. Not sure what he will end up getting, but there are things he can do that Zach hasn't come close to duplicating.
I was thinking of that today; that Olshey probably knows from agents exactly who might sign here if the money is right. And so if he doesn't get the guys I want, I'll be somewhat understanding, cuz as has been said, most clubs only have the exceptions to work with, so the same amount of money except for a few highly desired players. But then I thought of 4 years ago when his first two targets went elsewhere and he settled for Turner. So it might go like that again, first, second and third options. Now, if he couldn't get somebody good with the trade exception, I might be less understanding.
