I like Rodney, I DO NOT like paying him this much after his Achilles inury, yuck. I know 2nd yr is not guaranteed but still too much this yr IMO. Hope he proves my wrong
FULL MLE still available to use as well as the BAE. As much as I've ragged on Olshey in the passed, he is doing well so far. But they need another big piece. Right now they have moved into HCA contender status but are not to title contender status yet.
So is this using his early Bird Rights to re-sign him at 175% of the previous deal? If so, I'd have to imagine this was a wink-wink agreement that NO made last year with Hood and NO is honoring it or he'd look bad and burn bridges.
Great deal for Hood. Its unlikely the difference from 6 to 10 million hurts the Blazers in any way. Nonguaranteed on year 2 is great for the team. I've been very pessimistic on Hood chance to return to form, but this contract gives Blazers upside if he does come back and nearly no downside if he doesnt.

Money wise, it doesn't really matter because the second year is non-guaranteed. But I was hoping to have a 10 million dollar contract to trade, and because this is a 1+1 it means that he effectively has a non-trade clause.
Everyone who is complaining about the amount Hood is making is really showing that they just don’t understand how the cap works.
Exactly. Honor the commitments, and contracts like this are assets beyond just the player itself. The math works out perfectly, too. $6mil times 175% is $10.5mil.
