Love that the 2nd year is not guaranteed. Olshey is acting so shrewd all of a sudden. Where was this in the summer of 2016?
As I've said before, it's highly likely Hood was given a wink/nod agreement this number was coming after he agreed to a deal that was below market value last summer. Despite the injury and this number possibly being too high, Olshey had to honor his word in order to keep favor with players/agents for future deals. I would have had no issue with a 3 year, $27m deal for Hood last summer, so for that reason, I'm ok with this deal.
It's not bad deal if Zach not ready at the start of the season then you have Hood Covington Nurk Dame and CJ has starters. Off the bench Trent Kanter Zach and when he come back he either gets starting spot back if does then you bring back Hood off the bench. All I am saying either way our bench got stronger. So now let see how much stronger after we use MLE and BAE.
So we essentially had the same team as two years ago with Covington/Trent/Simons instead of Aminu/Moe/Curry. Need another player or two here.
That’s the one thing nice about this “Covid Free agency day” rather than the traditional July 1st day, we don’t have to wait long to see all these moving new pieces around the league
he was measured as 6′ 7.25” without shoes in pre-draft. Only a 6′ 8.50”wingspan though. Jeremai Grant was a half inch shorter but has a wingspan 6.25" longer.
as many have already said, the non-guaranteed 2nd season makes this a decent deal. The risk is that it's likely he won't be near as good next season as he was in the past. He has a lot of shot motions that rely on lateral jab steps and lateral mobility seems to be the last thing a player coming off an Achilles injury regains, if he does. He's never been strong on defense so hopefully, there won't be a big gap there compared to his previous self
