I've got four Michelin studded snow tires for sale with rims that I used on my 2005 Volvo V70 station wagon for $400. They are size 235/45 R17 97T with plenty of tread. I've put them up for sale on Craig's list. My question is does that sound like a fair price?
How old are they? Remember that tires, even if they have lots of tread - are going to be unsafe after 6-10 years, no matter what. So, if they are pretty new - I would imagine that they would go for at least $200 per tire when new (last time I bought snow tire was a while ago, but I suspect they are not that different from A/T tires that I research recently) - which makes a set for $400 a nice deal for someone. If they are close or over the 6 years age... not so much.
I'm going to say this in the nicest way possible but I wouldn't sell your tires online that involves strangers coming to your house. You and your lovely wife aren't really in the best position to stop someone from showing up and either casing you and your house for robbery later or just robbing you when they're there. Is $400 worth risking your personal safety? Maybe call around to a couple of used tire stores, see what they'll give you for them and pick them up. $200 to get them out of your garage and to not have strangers show up to your house seems like a better deal.
Lanny I'll bet you could trade them in to your Volvo dealer or mechanic and they could move them with a used Volvo on the lot....just sayin'....find somebody who works on or sells used Volvos Get some mechanical work in barter...brake job etc...
They're probably 6 - 8 years old. I've had a lot of Michelins and several were over 8 years old with no problems.

The rims have some value but I agree....I don't think it's even legal to sell used tires anymore. I couldn't buy a used spare for my truck at a local place...they weren't allowed to sell them or even repair them anymore
Studded tires should be outlawed anyway. The damages far outweigh the advantages, especially when AWD cars are readily available and affordable......

There are used tire stores all around town in Portland and searching the web I was able to find several stores in Eugene area as well. Might be that particular stores policy. I purchased a near new (90% ) tire on ebay a few months ago.
Can't do that in Lane county Oregon...even the big tire shops no longer fix flats or sell used tires...I learned when my spare went flat for my old truck that the used spare isn't available anymore nor would anyone fix my flat...I used to pick up a used spare tire for 5 bucks at the local tire shop....they can't sell them anymore

Yeah....Les Schwab Walmart, American Tire and Big Apple Tire all told me the same thing...if they're selling used tires, they're probably a pawn shop...I was told it's illegal to sell them or repair them...I sure didn't make that policy...to me a spare is rarely driven on and only needs to get me to a tire shop....had a flat last winter on my truck and went through this whole thing...if I patched it myself it would probably go unnoticed but I don't have those tools
The link was to an automotive repair and tire shop. Depending on where the hole is you can purchase a kit with plugs to repair the leak without ever taking the tire off. Done it on some of my own tires and have had success. No removing of tire is necessary
Tires these days are impregnated with chemicals to extend their life. They just proved that such chemicals were harmful to Coho, aka Silver, salmon.
