Clearly, Pompeo is a hack, and Donald has never heard of him. He barely knows him. He's been told that he's a hot head, and no one believes him. He's heard no one reputable would hire him or believe him.

Exactly why Russia is able to hold it over him and make him do their bidding. Yes, he is a senator from a very conservative state. He would be done if it came out. He is hiding in the closet and doesn't want it revealed. Russia could reveal it, hence their power over him.
